Thoughts on the MMT Swiss Horological Smartwatch Platform
I'll admit that when I saw that Frederique Constant was announcing a smart watch platform, I was dubious of what they might show. This has nothing to with FC specifically, I quite like the brand in fact, but more that a brand with a fairly classical approach to watch making, a brand without any tech to show, not even a digital watch in their current line up let alone anything with software, was delving into "smart territory" just seemed off. I thought to myself, how on Earth is this Swiss brand going to make something competitive, something more than a momentarily news worthy item that would quickly be overshadowed by Apple or just forgotten as a novelty (remember that Gilt Smart Watch?..), a misguided detour in territory they didn't belong.Well, what they presented was extremely surprising in many ways and ?intriguing; The MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies) Swiss Horological Smartwatch platform… Which actually is a company as well as technology, but more on the former later.
Bring a Loupe: A Grail Patek, And Many Beautiful Watches From Lange, Jaeger-LeCoultre And IWC
For this week's Bring A Loupe expect a very eclectic selection. You will discover a grail chronograph from Patek, and an iconic Rolex GMT. We've also found many beautiful blue dials, from a rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox to a sparkling Lange Saxonia. And completing the round-up, we have a couple of unusual and very interesting watches, including a Tudor Advisor, and the Heuer Solunar. This is your Bring a Loupe for August 7, 2015. A Dream Patek Chronograph, The Reference 1518 1 OF 12 This Patek 1518 is undoubtedly my favorite of the week, the more so because I got the chance to put on my wrist. With this one something strange happened: I really did not want to take it offever! The proportions are on point: the small and thick case underlines the layering of the dial with its magnificent moonphase disc. Granted, the dial has some aging marks, but nothing crazy for a proud 70-year-old watch. And the applied Arabic numerals are actually a big highlight of this
What should be the next move?
So after acquiring my AP elephant recently I've been very happy with it and is getting along with the scratches better however, I'll be graduating my bachelor degree in two months and considering making one last change in my collection before continuing my master in Berlin next year so I wanted your opinion my current collection consist of a corum bubble, AP elephant, gmt master 2 tone, and hulk. I'll never be trading my hulk since it's my first watch with my name on the card. However, I'm considering adding an omega speed master or a PAM 372 or Pam 292 on a brown strap which I've been eyeing a few years back if go panerai i'll he leaning on the 292 however, I've notice that the price of panerai is going had so if not these choices should I flip my AP elephant to a 44 novelty steel? Or gmt master to a twotone racing dial daytona? or lastly get a bracelet to go with the elephant instead ? What would ur choices be? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
