If there is one sub-sect of vintage watches that I believe is about to experience a renaissance of sorts, it's vintage Audemars Piguet. For years, I have admired the subtle elegance and incredible design found in early 20th century AP's. I believe them to be some of the most beautiful watches ever made, and based on our visit inside the vault of AP last summer, you guys agreed.There is simply so much to love in this category, and yet we simply don't hear much about it. Sure, there are way, way fewer vintage AP watches out there than any Patek, as we've mentioned, and that just makes them that much more appealing. This season, there are several fantastic vintage AP's coming up for sale, and because this manufacture is one of the few who has a publicly available historical expert, we thought it would be great to get brand historian Michael Friedman's own take on the vintage AP's coming up this weekend and next week in Geneva. AP Roo Diver: A Week On "My" Wrist: Observations��
Some in-hand observations about the AP Diver (i have used my rolex sea dweller as a reference where i thought it would lend some perspective, not trying to compare the two as they are apples and oranges)In the realm of dive watches, the AP certainly stands out as unique, 1st it is a dive watch without an external bezel, quite uncommon, 2nd It has a movement that is beautifully finished and topped with a 22 carat gold rotor.The internal bezel is a neat complication & works nicely, it gives you a different way to interact with the watch & I like this. I own one and up until I purchased my Rolex it was my best watch. I love the feel, the lum, the ruggedness, and the accuracy of the watch. I've had it a couple of years and it just keeps on ticking at about -1 second a week. If it weren't for it having become the Bond watch due to it appearing in a couple of films it would be close to perfect watch. At any rate here are a few of photos of mine. Hi, I am in the process of trying to decide on a new piece for my collection.The two pieces that I am considering right now are Rolex SD4K ref. 116600 or white dial Daytona ref. 116520. I have a hulk, speedmaster 57 reissue, sea master 300 MC in my current collection. What do you guys think??

2006 Submariner With Pre 2000 Dial
I'm considering buying a Z Series (2006) Blackface 16613 Submariner, but I'm hesitant because the original dial was replaced (reason unknown) with a pre 2000 dial ... price is about 7k... Comments welcome
