amiricanmade - clarification, and my new first Ap
Hey everyone. i posted here a few days back in regards to my first AP which i was trying to purchase from a fellow member here, felt like i am being rushed in to the deal and asked for opinion, in return the seller came on the post and started to tell his side of the story, one thing led to another and i went and bought the Skydweller instead. a few days and a few txt later Amir and i decided to meet ( not in the dark ally i was trying to meet with him to first time) we met at Westime on sunset blvd where Raffi the manager took a look at the watch and told me there is nothing to worry about and to go on with purchase. the whole time Amir was offering everything possible to make me feel more comfortable about the purchase. making a long story short i came back home with a new AP and despite thinking my girlfriend will do splits in bed tonight after giving her the watch, i ended up sleeping on the couch for buying more stupid watches... bottom line - well worth it
Not sure where to start
Found your forum, and hope some folks can point me in the right direction. I hope these pics go through without any issues. This is all I know; This Seamaster 300 belonged to my dad, and I inherited it last year. According to him, he shared a story of wearing this watch (around 1969-72, not sure) in a sauna, and melting the rubber/waterproof gasket. Not sure about that, but there is certainly black gunk around the outside edge of the bezel. The band is broken, but if you unscrew the winder (probably calling that the wrong name), and advance clockwise, it does run. My questions/comments are; 1. Is there a way to identify the date of this watch without opening? 2. My dad did some scuba diving in Okinawa around 70-72, so I assume it was purchased sometime between 60-75, but not sure. 3. On line this looks to be semi valuable. Can this be re-conditioned at a reasonable price? The crystal is badly scratched, the band broken, and there's black gunk around the bezel. But it does work.Any direc
Looking for AD in So Cal or Vegas
I'm planning on buying a 5167. Im in the Los Angeles area. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Patek AD in So Cal or Vegas? Also, can you expect any discount on a watch like 5167? Thanks in advance.
Lazy Question
I am sure I could find this answer by doing a little research but I have had a long day and I am lazy. I am a DJ, DD, YM kinda Rolex guys, and I hear soo much on here about all of these crazy popular models. The GMT II (a couple of models) the two green subs and the SS Daytonas. Which of these are the most sought after and why?
