Speake-Marin Marin 1 Watch Hands-On
Peter Speake-Marin is a highly noteworthy independent watch maker who has his hands in many interesting watches out there. Most important of course is his own brand, Speake-Marin. 2010 sees a new model, and most importantly a new movement - the Speake-Marin in-house made SM2 automatic. The movement is really beautiful. You can see it through the new Marin 1 watch caseback - being able to appreciate not only Speake-Marin's attention to detail and decoration, but also how beautifully it is made. The hallmark of a true luxury movement is that it looks beautiful from a quality standpoint, and that the actually design of it is made with form and function in mind. The automatic rotor has a hidden weight on the bottom so that seeing it from the top makes it look symmetrical. Anthracite dial 44 novelty gone from AP website?
Maybe I just can't find it, but the Anthracite dial ceramic 44 that was revealed at SIHH is gone from the AP website. I see all the other novelties there except for that model. Maybe it's just website maintenance but could it also be the possibility of something more ominous like QC on the new dial?

RSC service: How nice is nice?
Hello all! So, I just received my 116520 back from RSC yesterday after about 2 months. This is the first time I've ever sent a watch to RSC for service by the way and I agreed to the full spa treatment as I thought it would be worth it for a Daytona. While I'm sure (I hope) that the quality of the movement service was good, I was not impressed with how the watch looked on the outside when I got it back. They asked me to inspect it, but it was full of fingerprints and some kind of light oil it seems. They handed me a polishing cloth, but I didn't want to wipe down the watch and possibly scratch a newly polished watch. I took it home, knowing there's a fresh 2 year warranty and figured I'm sure all is fine. At home, I immediately gave the watch a nice bath with some Dawn dish soap and got all the greasiness off. I could now really inspect the watch. I must say that the polishing isn't up to snuff with what I would have expected. The brushed areas are uneven, and on the clasp they missed

Morning folksLike many I have a question concerning gray market dealers. Specifically to find One with a decent reputation. Heard good and bad about Jaztime. I recently parted with my first Rolex a 1950 Rolex 6694. Now have a Rolex perpetual date 72. Had the precision serviced once whenI bought it for new spring cleaned and oiled, lost maybe 20 seconds week. My perpetual date had cleaned and oiled all parts were fine. I would really like to get a new oyster Perpetual, not hung up on warantee cardJust want to be sure that If I'm spending several thousand dollars it's a geunuine Rolex. Old stock doesn't bother me.
