Scuderia Ferrari Formula Italia Watches: "Made In Italy" & Affordable
On watches-dealer, if a watch with "Ferrari" in the name is mentioned, you will probably think of Hublot. That is mostly accurate, since Hublot is an official partner of Ferrari and their official high-end watch making partner which started back in 2011. So while Hublot makes all of Ferrari's most expensive timepieces, there needs to be a collection of Ferrari watches for everyone else. The company that has that privilege is Movado. In 2012, I covered the Movado Ferrari watches here that replaced the "sun" on the classic Museum Dial watch with the Ferrari prancing horse logo.There is also the Scuderia Ferrari watch brand, produced by the Movado group but without any Movado branding and sold on Ferrari's main merchandise site. Does this look authentic?
I'm thinking of purchasing this watch from a local private owner. I haven't seen it in person yet, but it will be a face to face deal. He originally wanted $1500, but after talking to me a couple of times I have him down to $1100. It doesn't have box or papers, and the kicker is he says it is a quartz, but the pic to me looks like an automatic four lines of text, though blurry, in my book means Chronometer.So either the pic isn't of the actual watch, or he doesn't know what he has... I'm gonna offer him 1k, and if he accepts I'll go check it out in person. Maybe a little warm to the touch? Hmmm.... Thoughts? I have a weakness for this particular model.

My Wife Said What????
I have been Patek shopping trying on different models without my wife. Last Monday we had to take my son to Cincinnati so he could fly back to Florida. We live in Indy and with my dad's death, we were only able to get him a flight back on Allegiant with 4 hours notice. I found the address of a Patek dealer and wanted to try on different models while my wife was shopping at Ikea and other stores. She said she would go with me to my surprise. She has tolerated my watch hobby so far and I was concerned when she asked prices of various pieces. Roll ahead to last night after church, she said she wanted to get me my first Patek for Christmas! Enough said........
