3 New Jaquet Droz Watches for China’s Year of the Horse
As Americans mark the start of 2014, China celebrates the Year of the Horse, the seventh sign in the Chinese Zodiac. To commemorate it, Jaquet Droz, a watch brand long associated with China, is releasing a series of Ateliers d’Art timepieces with artistic dials. Each of the three new Jaquet Droz watches features at least one of three highly complex artistic decorative technique on its dial: engraving, painting and grand feu enamel. All are from Jaquet Droz’s Petite Heure Minute collection, with hours and minutes indicated on an off-center subdial. The smallest of the new watches, the Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute 39 mm (U.S. price: $30,500), has an ivory grand feu enamel dial with miniature paintings of two Arab thoroughbreds considered by many to be the most beautiful horses in the world in full gallop. The largest watch, the Petite Heure Minute 43 mm ($57,800), features a bas-relief sculptural illustration of a wild mustang, a horse native to the American northwest, in
Swatch Sistem51 Watch - Cool New Styles For 2015
Swatch Sistem Cream SUTM400Everyone's favorite fully robot-produced mechanical Swiss watches - the Swatch Sistem51 - is back for 2015 with five new styles that add to the original Sistem51 collection. Swatch debuted the exciting Sistem51 model range back in 2013 (here), but it was not until later in 2014 that the Swatch Sistem51 hit all markets such as the United States. These new for 2015 Sistem51 collection watches offer more traditional looks with the entry-level "100% Swiss" automatic mechanical timepieces.Swatch was very clever to introduce low-priced $150 automatic mechanical watches as a way of getting more people into wearing mechanical timepieces. Swatch continues to produce and sell mostly quartz movement-based timepieces and the hope is that people will "graduate" to more luxurious Swiss watches (of course, according to Swatch, ideally within the Swatch Group brands). With an entry-level mechanical version, this becomes more of a reality, since people who have mechanical wat
Omega boutique store
I checked out the Omega botique store, they have a great selection of all things Omega, and Omega only. The service was also very good. The price point on most Omegas seems like a steal compared to Rolex. Two watches stood out for me today, a new blackfaced moonwatch with a date, day and month wheel, and this second watch for 3,500 with the best looking dial I've seen in some time... Very tempting if you ask me...What do you think...?
Patek Philippe price increase confirmed?
Assume this is common knowledge or otherwise a crafty ploy by the PP AD (UK based) to encourage a sale but my friend has been on the waiting list for a PP 5960/1A and was informed his watch would be ready to collect from 1 February. On enquiry of a discount he received the following reply (word for word, purchaser and sales rep names removed for privacy reasons).Hi XXXXX,The list price is still the same at the moment,There is going to be a price increase soon , we re not sure of dates yet.The price will be 36,920 .Unfortunately because of the increase and the demand for this watch we are unable to offer discount. If you would like to pass on this watch at the present time we can allow the watch to the next person on our list. Please let me know your thoughtsBestXXXXX
Adding a 214270
Decision time! I am thinking about adding a 214270 and leaning more to the MK2 side than MK1... So I've been to 2 ADs hoping to try on a MK2 but no luck on that, in fact they barely have any SS sport models in stock. Anyone know of any dealers in the LA area that have a MK2 in stock? Any kind of discount can be had on the 214270? TIA!
