Since its launch in 1931, the Reverso has appeared in many forms, from sporting to jewellery to grand complications. Reversos have housed over 50 in-house calibers, and hundreds of dials. During the early days, artists, intellectuals and other renegades often sported red dials to assert their individuality. For 2012, the red dial returns. During the 1930s, the Manufacture offered a broad palette of dial colors. The vast majority of those acquiring a Reverso opted for white, cream-colored, black or gold-toned dials.Even during this period referred to in French as the Ann��es Folles (Crazy Years), it took a distinctly non-conformist attitude to select a colorful dial. I'm in love with my latest purchase. I had originally wanted a Rolex Seadweller. Truth be told it was a bit of a stretch at the moment and after trying on a few they left me feeling a bit cold. I stumbled across this beauty and can't believe how good it is in the flesh. The crystal is almost impossible to see, such is the quality of the AR and the overall build quality has blown me away. I have a Speedmaster Moonwatch already and this feels significantly more well engineered. Ok it's not got the cult classic reputation the speedy enjoys and is a completely different style of watch but I'm very very happy with this purchase. The display back particularly attracted me to the watch and I believe the movement is held I particular high regard (8500) co axial. Without rambling on too much, here are some pictures. Vintage Tudor
My father passed away in the 60s, and I have recently acquired his Tudor, minus the 'Oyster' shaped case and the steel bracelet.I'm trying to find out the year etc. Seems like the Rose in the Shield comes from the 40s but not sure.It has the 'rose in the shield' above the Tudor Oyster Automatic, numbers 2,4,6,8,10,12 on a champagne coloured dial with the words 'Shock Resisting' between the 4 and 8 position.It is a hack second hand. I was told by a jeweller that it is gold filled and the gold plating on the crown is almost gone. The serial# is 509xx next line is 95xIt gains about 1 minute overnight on my night stand, so I'd say it's working quite well for an older watch.Here are some pictures.
