Introducing The Blancpain Villeret Grand Date, A Favorite Upgrades To Two Windows
If one thing is certain about SIHH, it’s that it foreshadows Basel. And storming out of the gate for Pre-Basel 2015 is Blancpain’s new Villeret Grand Date. This watch is notable for a few reasons. There is a clever simplicity in applying the Aqualung’s (spotted here on Vladimir Putin’s wrist) signature date window to the Villeret. But, regardless of how clever and simple it may seem, applying such a window has the potential to go horribly wrong. Thankfully, Blancpain seems to have gotten it right.Earlier in the year, we celebrated Blancpain’s New NYC Boutique. Singapore visit
I popped into one of the the Singapore AP boutiques the other night to see what they had on offer and tried on some lovely pieces and experienced a great level of service and enthusiasm for the brand from the staff. All in all, it was a delightful visit. I'm not allowing myself to buy any more watches this year, so no incoming to report, but the decision on my next watch has become more difficult. In a huge fan of the blue dial ROC, but the 15400 in grey is quite amazing. Alas, the ROO PT is not in the cards for me!They had a couple of very nice vintage pieces on display. The re-release of the ROO now has me particularly excited.

Advice requested

Breitling Super Avenger II vs Avenger Hurricane
So far I have a Panerai Pam 90 and a Rolex Two tone bluesy Submariner. I want to add a 3rd watch to the collection and this time I want a Breitling. I like the 24 hour display and large 50mm size of the Avenger Hurricane but I wonder if its worth substantially more than the Breitling Super Avenger II which is a 48mm. Also the Hurricane is made of a new Breitlight material which is basically plastic for a watch that has an MSRP for $8,390. If you had to choose one over the other which one would you go for and why? I like my watches bold and flashy with wrist presense instead of being low key and flying under the radar. Save my money and go with the Super Avenger 2 or spend the extra $ and get the 24 hour display and 50mm case of the Avenger Hurricane?
