HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 143: Bluetooth Watch Blues
John discusses a Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk watch he is reviewing and I discuss a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms that I am reviewing. Which is the better watch? Then we proceed to get into the dirty details of smartwatches and the potential failings of Bluetooth. Of course, Casio is about to come out with new Bluetooth watches that may just have us eating our words. Also, Rolex.Listen to the HourTime Show watch podcast episode 143 here. Download the mp3.
Globemaster steel on steel, silver dial
I have recently gotten another itch. I was looking on Omega site and fell in love with the above. Any ADs are over 2 hrs from where I live but pics make the silver face look almost white which is what I also like about it.Anyone currently own one of these? Its obviously a dead ringer for the rollie Datejust but at about $3K less from reseller.Rated by many blogs as far superior from engine standpoint. Anyone have any thoughts or pics? BTW Omega had fluted bezels way back in the 1950s/60s so no, they didnt copy rollie.
Grail: Planet Ocean Seamaster Chronograph
My friend just bought his grail watch and was kind enough to let me take some pics of it. I think it is just great looking and massive as well. Are there many more out there? I just haven't seen many in the wild.
Selling Daytona, buying Daytona?
Hello allI am new to these forums and very much not a watch expert, though I have the good fortune to own a nice Rolex, Daytona 6263.I am currently considering selling this watch. However, though I would like the cash it will pain me to part with the watch. So to soften the blow what I am considering is using some of the money to purchase another, cheaper Rolex -- depending on the price I can get for the 6263, I might be looking to spend around 10k - 20k.I am quite attached to the appearance of the Daytona. So my question is, are the (relatively) cheaper, newer Daytona models good value for money? And will the value appreciate over time? Thanks in advance for all replies that don't use too much expert jargon that I won't understand! :)
Saga of my Rolex
Me and my Oyster Perpetual Submariner started our symbiotic relationship back in 1974 in Hamilton Bermuda. I have had the watch on my for arm more of my life than I have not. A scary thought. Twice we spent a few anxious weeks apart whilst it was being serviced. As a professional hotel chef my working life, this watch has been in all kinds of things I'm sure no one ever planned for. My watch has been well used and abused. Not wishing to provoke tears in any forum member, suffice to say that once it was taken for service in a Ziplock baggy in pieces. The Rolex people were not impressed ! A few weeks ago I found a well engineered thin stainless steel ring on my garage floor. Attracted to it like a magpie, I picked it up and mumbled W T F did this come from horror when I realised the bezel of my watch had disappeared.Knowing how much a full plus parts service was going to cost I said no way.Every time I guiltily glanced at the time, the forlorn watched looked back at me. I now know why the
