Just got my first Omega
After all these years, I just got my first Omega I've been searching for the 45th anniversary moon watch for a while ever since I saw one at an AD.. and finally pull the trigger. (Thanks Henry Erlich, aka HankE from TZ)Its used, but LNIBthe pics below shows it with leather strap rather than the oem Nato (which I also have)This watch is absolutely gorgeous. (Especially the way the light reflects off the hour markers and the way the dial changes color in a subtle way.) Its hard to capture the beauty in pics.-Compared to my Rolexes, its light (titanium). -Its also lacking the date, but I will get used to it. -I also have to get in the habit of winding this daily since its not automatic.-The lume is better than my DJII, particularly the hour & minute hand lume.
Subdial question for the Speedy experts!
Hello Folks, I have a ref 3565.80.00. Sometimes like to leave the chronograph seconds hand in the 730pm position so that the printing at 12oclock is readable. Otherwise is partially blocked when the hand is at rest. Is it bad to run the chronograph, stop it but not reset the dials back to 12 oclock - then leave it like that indifinately?
PO 8500: SS vs. Ti
After seeing beautiful pictures of the PO 8500 Ti I made a few phone calls to ADs today and found out that nobody has them yet, at least in the SF Bay Area. I haven't tried on a 45.5mm watch (biggest one I have is 42mm) so I went to an AD to see for myself. I love the size! I tried on this PO 8500 SS. Now I'm kinda torn between the two. The blue of the Ti version is simply stunning, at least in the pictures I've seen. On the other hand, the SS version is gorgeous too. For those who have seen both in person, which one do you like more and do you think the Ti version is worth the $2600 premium over the SS?
Which 5396 looks better?
I was considering to go with 5146G cream dial when the AD showed me several 5396 series.a) 5396G-001 white baton b) 5396G-014 slate breguet numbers c) 5396R-014 rose gold with blue dialI haven't seen 5396R-014 rose gold with blue dial yet. I like breguet numbers but white version looks cleaner.Curious to know what others think - out of the above three, which version is good and which is no-no?Searched the forum but haven't seen much discussion on 5396R-014.
Oh what a feeling...
I believe most of us would not deny that one of the best parts of our hobby/passion is the first days after receiving a watch that you have patiently waited for...sometimes weeks, months, or even years.Yesterday I had the pleasure of wearing my new 5167 for the first time...outstanding is the first word that comes to mind!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful information that is posted in this forum, it really helped me to decide to get back to the Aquanaut. But I digress....Two years ago I purchased my first Patek (5167 on bracelet) and to be honest I really never warmed up to the look on the bracelet. We all know what happens next, I traded this piece towards 2 Rolex models just 4 months later. Looking back that was a mistake as I should have just ordered a rubber strap & clasp. Fast forward to two months ago when my wife and I were spending a long weekend away from the kids. Of course I stopped into the Patek dealer that was in the city we escaped to and after trying on a 516
