Hublot Big Bang Depeche Mode Watch
80s loving Europeans (and well, me too) love Depeche Mode musical entertainment and?Hublot certainly does. Back in 2010, the Swiss brand worked with Depeche Mode to create a limited edition of 12 Big Bang watches each with unique Depeche Mode albums covers (debuted here). Those were sold off for charity. Now three years later in 2013, Hublot once again dances slow with Depeche Mode with a new 250 piece limited edition Big Bang Depeche Mode.Sales of the watches will benefit probably the most PR friendly non-profit charity next to those that save cats and dogs - Charity: Water - that helps bring drinking water to people in the developing world. The watch is all black in a 44mm wide ceramic case and has a series of clos du Paris style pyramids on the bezel, hour markers, and strap. Very Dior (also LVMH by the way), and reminds me of the pyramids that Karl Lagerfeld likes on his new watches. These are certainly interesting Hublot watches and will probably appeal to all the black leather pa
Slotted countersunk hex heads bug the crap out of me
Just a minor rant; I love the 15202...a lot...but those stupid flush-mount slotted hex heads are the dumbest things in the world. Totally nonfunctional, even to the point of being nonsensical -- why slot a countersunk head that cannot be turned?Fully aware that the entire hobby of high-end watch collecting is intrinsically impractical, so I won't challenge the fact the screws are made out of white gold, but the sheer and utter uselessness of the slot design is akin to wiring a battery into the mainspring, a 2121 movement with no hands, or a date wheel labelled A through Z.Rant off...I'd really love this watch if it weren't for those (admittedly iconic) slotted hex heads. That don't do anything and can't serve any purpose.Flame away....
Date change at midnight - 26300st/Cal.2385
I would appreciate if those with ROCs and the 2385 movement could chime in here. I was watching the date change around midnight and noticed two things:- Around 30 minutes before midnight the datewheel had started turning slightly into the next date (perhaps by 1/5). By Midnight it had turned slightly more (around 1/3).- At 10 minutes past midnight it finally changed over to the next date in one quick flip, just like on a Rolex. Is this normal and within spec? My Rolexes flip over around 3-5 minutes past midnight and I was wondering if the same should be the case for APs. Looking forward to being schooled
