Angular Momentum Phenakistoscope Watches - Memento Mori & Little Devil
This Halloween I'd like to present you with two creepy watches from Angular Momentum. Creepy yes, but in a more subtle "Swiss way." The one that creeps me out most is the "Little Devil" watch - with images of a maniacal looking infant laughing over hell fire. But let's get back to the "phenakistoscope" part of the name. The hell is that you ask? Well this was part of early animation. You'd take some type of cylinder or ring, and place images on it that if seen in a quickly moving sequence, would appear to the eye to move. Please be aware that unless this watch is operating terribly wrong, the disc with the sequential images will not move fast enough for you to see the animation. Rather, it is a wrist watch style homage of these early forms of animated entertainment. The disk moves around the dial once each 12 hours - slowest animation ever! The watches are each 40mm wide in steel "time gallery" style Angular Momentum cases. In addition to Little Devil, there is the Memento Mori watch -
The H.R. Giger Take On Watches: He Loves Swatch Watches
Though stated in 1993, I doubt H.R. Giger has changed the way he feels about watches. "I will wear a Swatch, the real thing, from the cradle to the grave." Best know for his macabre and dark industrial, future goth design style, Giger is probably most widely known for his design of the alien, in the Alien movies series. The fiendish, eye-less, dark and brooding brutal alien species is but one of a legacy of designs and characters imagined by Giger. A favorite approach of his is to take common industrial design and endow his own take on them. Fortunately for us, he has done this with the simplest of watches, the Swatch. As part of an early 1990's art exhibit, Giger used his love of the simplicity of the Swatch watch, and took it to another level. Though never commercially available, these designs are a wonderful depiction of how to incorporate the watch into a great and dark design theme. Notice how the watch in each design is the classic Swatch design. You can see more pictures of the G
Whats the opinion on this particular Beast?
AP 25721TI.OO.1000TI.02Saw this on my marketplace. What do you guys think of this piece? It’s early ROO piece in titanium with JLC base movement. The dial seem like an experiment by AP, transition between original ROO dial with petite tapestries but with Arabic numeral instead of small plots. The numeral however is not as bold as current Offshore.

TT blue faced Sub (16613) bracelet question.
I just bought a made in 1999 (A-Serial) 16613 blue faced sub. It has a SWISS dial and a TT bracelet, but doesn't have the gold through the clasp. For those of you that own a similar model, does it bother you that the gold does not go through the clasp? Have you considered getting an upgraded bracelet? This one appears to contain evidence that it was serviced by Rolex in 2015 and that paperwork helped me make the decision on this watch compared to paying about $300 more for one made a year later that had the gold through the clasp. I suppose the version I am getting may not scratch as easily as a gold through clasp model bracelet while I'm typing. I dunno. Maybe I should just order another one so I'll have one of each? The watch is currently incoming and I'll post pics when it arrives. Hopefully that will be by the end of the week.
