In-Depth: Twelve Of The Greatest Missing Watches, Including Paul Newman's Paul Newman, John Lennon's Patek Philippe, The Original Moonwatch, And A President's President
The intersection of politics and popular culture with wristwatches is undeniably fascinating. I mean, that's basically why I have a job. Equally fascinating is the pursuit of these timepieces at the center of this interesection by watch collectors, dealers, and auction houses. There are a handful of documented important wrist and pocket watches out there that the world at large is still looking for. What I mean by that is they have not been publicly sold or located, like say Eric Clapton's platinum 2499, Gandhi's Zenith pocket watch, or Steve McQueen's 5512 Submariner (we won't get into his seemingly never ending supply of Monacos), though we know they exist via a blurry old 35mm photograph, or word of mouth. This is a short list of twelve watches that we know to exist, have serious interest in, but have seemingly gone missing. Aqua Terra Golf: My Next Omega Grail
I was browsing the Omega website today and stumbled upon what appears to be the watch of my (near-term) dreams: Aqua Terra Golf.I've always liked the design of the Aqua Terra, but the 39mm case didn't really appeal to me. I'm probably quite behind the times, but 41.5mm Aqua Terra + green accents is a winner in my eyes. Well then again, green is just my favorite color. (Thus I think the Sub LV is beautiful too.)Just have to save up and hope one pops up on the secondary market eventually!Anyone know of other watches with relatively normal (black/white) faces with green accents?
Decision (almost) made...Aquanaut Final Question: 5164A or 5167A
You guys have been great and have helped me get to where I am with my decision. My final dilemma : 5167A or 5164A I'm on the fence and like both of these very much. There's a pretty big price jump from the 5167 to the 5164 and I already have a Rolex GMT, but I like the aesthetics better of the 5164. My thought is to get the 5167, but do you think I will regret it? Or, be happy that I saved 15k and get another Patek :) ?
New strap for my 210 and see what has happened
Ordered a dark tabacco desert alligator strap from Di Stefano for my Radomir 210 ... Which i was wearing on a black alligator from TWB .... Now the strap arrived yesterday and also it smells great and is butter soft ... I like the look and structure of the TWB strap better .... I now fitted it on my 372 ...What do you think?I regret i bought it ... Will it grow on me?
Sea Dweller Dive extension
Did the 16600 Sea Dweller originally come with two dive extensions? One marked with an S in the bracelet, and one with an L in the tool kit?
