Seiko Recraft Mechanical 1970s Style Watches
Full disclosure: I am a vintage Seiko fanatic. My watch-collecting journey really started with a fascination for Seiko's iconic automatic models of 60s, 70s, and (early) 80s. Over the years, it's proven a great and satisfying romance, cemented by acquiring a number of great Seiko vintage timepieces C a very rare Timesonar (one of the first watches by Seiko to have an exhibition caseback C and therefore, sort of ever), an amazing NOS Seiko Monaco with a 7016 movement, and my first grail attained, the 6139 Pogue chrono that was renowned for being the first watch in outer space on a Skylab mission. That's why I was pleasantly surprised upon discovering Seiko, in its quiet fashion, had recently dropped a wonderfully retro-themed new collection known as Recraft. Seiko Recraft Mechanical SNKN01What got me especially excited about the new Seiko Recraft models was also that Seiko retains a bit of authentic vintage heritage in the watches' choice of timekeeping mechanics (albeit with a
Help understanding - Panda's - 42mm or 44mm, or both??
Trying to understand the Panda dial - I'm seeing 2 different descriptions on the internet and have uncovered 2 reference #'s - Is the 44mm Panda referred to as Themes Panda and did this replace a 42mm model? - My wrist is better suited for 44mm so I'm trying to make sure I'm looking at the right model. Thanks all!!Brian
Vintage Speedmaster Mark II Value Question
Members:First time posting.I wanted to get your take on the value of an Omega Mark II Racing dial 145.014 sold on eBay.The watch was a non-working vintage piece. Seller claimed to be the son of the original owner. His dad wore the watch until the 80's then gave it to him and he wore it until the 90's. He says it was wound too tight and needed servicing. Watch looked original as far as the crystal, all hands, along with the bracelet. No box or papers and only service history was that the seller had a watch maker clean the movement when he encountered the winding too tight issue the first time. Watch was being sold by a seller in the US.I wanted the watch for a project to restore and wear in my watch rotation. Bidding started at $450 USD and ended up selling for around $1,136 USD.Without pictures, based on my story above, what are your thoughts on the value of this non-working watch? What should I plan to expect to pay for a 145.014 mark ii with the normal dial or the racing dial?
Strap Options for 2254.50
Could any owners of the 2254.50 please share some pics of straps that look particularly good with this watch? I am looking for a (hopefully) inexpensive strap for the summer. I've been looking at Isofrane and OEM rubber straps but would rather not dish out such money for a strap I would only use occasionally. Thanks!
I love this watch. Whatchathink? Planet Ocean Orange!
I really love the looks of this Planet Ocean with the orange dial and the orange threaded black leather band. The only question I have is how will it really look with my everyday attire? I normally wear jeans or Dockers to work and was wondering if this watch is really out of place? Not so much with the jeans, but as a business casual watch.Your thoughts? If you have any photos of your wearing it with jeans or business casual attire I would appreciate seeing them. Somehow I wonder if the orange would just be too much.
