Glimpse Into The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genve 2009 Video
Us poorly situated Americans oft not get to enjoy such events as the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genve 2009. High-brow and ritzy, it is one of the most notable watch awards around. Here you have a viewing room (that is quite well executed), showing the guests views of the watches up for consideration. I like that no watch is given any higher level of importance in comparison to any other watch, and that they are each on spinning stand, so that you can see the entire watch. The award show came and went, and the winners were announced (see link below for more on that as well the and video below). In the video above you can hear a bit about the criteria for choosing nominees. They take this stuff quite seriously, as they should. The list of winners is quite interesting. The big boys of watch making get most of the attention. This also includes the so called independent watch makers that are well-funded in comparison to less well-funded indy watch makers. The politics behind the award are a
Anybody here have a ROO Grand Prix?
since receiving my 26400so last week I am amazed by how nice these 44 ROO's are on the wrist. After flipping my way through the 15400 2x, diver 2x, and a volcano I took a hiatus from the brand as I thought it just wasn't for me. Well I couldn't be more wrong Anyway I really love the look of the FC and especially the Grand Prix. I would love to here some feedback about the FC ROO's!!!
The Winner is.....The EOT
In continuation to an earlier thread of mine, I've chosen the EOT in steel over the RG Skeleton. Now comes the tough part, Parting with the cash. 49K to be exact. My AD started the negotiations at 55K, leading me to believe that was his cost but after further investigation and couple of text exchanges with Mike (MB23) Thank You Mr. Russo, true wholesale on the piece is $44.5K. Also got the AP trip thrown in as well as a wonderful table clock that AP makes. The watch is from the AP boutique in Miami thus the Miami setting. My city's coordinates have been sent to AP and it will be customized when I visit the factory in April. Here is a quick shot at the AD's, waiting to be shipped to me by Saturday. Can't wait and will definitely not sleep much. Thanks all for their input. Will post wrist shots once its in my grubby little hands. Here is the table clock & the watch. Calatrava, Nautilus, Aquanaut, or ???
For months I've considered upgrading my meager two-watch collection, currently comprised of a stainless steel Breguet Marine and a rose gold JLC MUT Moon. I've initiated several forum threads during my search and have received many kind replies from TRF members.I initially focused upon a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date because I had the opportunity to buy a new one from an AD at a reasonable price. But I wasn't sure how the Day-Date would fit into my collection and which occasions might be appropriate for wearing a Day-Date. Is the Day-Date a flashy casual watch, a flashy special occasion watch or just over-the-top flashy? Don't get me wrong, I really like the Day-Date and often wish I owned one but, on the other hand, I'm not absolutely sure it fits my self-image. But if I did buy a Day-Date I would keep my other two watches.I eventually realized that I could buy a Patek Philippe for the money I was about to spend on a Rolex. With the guidance of forum members I discovered the b
Should I do it? Sky D Black
Hi GuysIt has been several weeks since I was active on the forum. I got a new car and have been pretty happy and busy playing and doing search on that.Today, I got a call from my dealer. He offered me a stainless Black Sky Dweller. So, here is my situation. Back in Oct 2017, I put a deposit down for a Green Sub (For my wife) and Blue Sky Dweller (for myself). I was expecting to get the Green sub quickly and the Blue Sky Dweller maybe towards the end of 2018. I still haven't gotten the Green Sub. I did not expect to get a new car (I shouldn't have gone to the dealer). I love the Black dial. I am 50/50 on Black and Blue dial, but decided to go with Blue since it is the more desirable one. I did not expect a opportunity like this. So with the car, and possibly a Green Sub that could be coming anytime, I don't know if I should get the Black Sky Dweller. If I passed on it, I may not be getting the opportunity for awhile. Should I get it?Oh, Please don't ask if you can have it
