How did you feel when your $18,000 watch got seriously scratched?!
Hi guys need some support from this great place. Having lusted after the Diver for ages I finally got it, love it. But! The bezel is a scratch magnet! OMG! And it's getting worse! Now I don't baby my watches but have never had this level of damage - and it's getting worse! How much does a new bezel cost, and can you get it refurbished by AP? It seems no matter the precautions I take this thing is getting battered, and this is my most expensive piece!
Just bought back my first watch!
In April 2005 we stopped in Roatan, Honduras (or could have been Belize as we stopped in both ports) for a day on a cruise ship and a being a relatively new port watch and jewellery shops were just opening up. From memory there was a new Columbian Emeralds store which stocked Omega which I went in.I bought an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m. Automatics were around ?900 and the battery/manual ?750 once exchanged but I didn't know this at the time. The shop had only just opened and I ended up buying an automatic but only paid ?750 - it was only later that on other islands and checking out the prices that I'd worked out the correct prices and that they had sold me the more expensive watch for the cheaper price. I had really wanted a Rolex but couldn't afford one. Anyway a few months later we were going on another Caribbean cruise with my parents and I ended up pushing the boat out and buying a Yachtmaster Rolex. I sold the Omega to one of the guys I worked with for the price I paid and
How to increase chances of acquiring a piece?
Hi all,New to the PP game. I'm on the waitlist at my local AD, but they are a smaller dealer and are estimating a 2-3+ year wait for the 5167A. I did not inquire about the 5167R, but I would imagine it would only be slightly better. How do you increase your chances of getting one of these? Just call around and see if you can get on a waitlist? Also I'm curious, regardless if there is a waitlist or not, are there some dealers that will offer you a watch if you are there in person, cash in hand? (thinking of swinging by a few dealers on the next vacation) Thanks!
Would you sell 233 for a Dark Side of the Moon?
I know the watches are very different, but lately the Omega dark side of the moon has really caught my eye, and really conflicted as to whether I should sell my 233K dot dial to fund it. I consider the 233 to be one of Panerai's modern classics, and my only manual wind watch. But the DSotM is just so well constructed, and I really like the all ceramic construction (including pushers, crown, and dial), and both the polished and brushed effects on the watch. It also has a great in-house movement, just like the 233.Unfortunately I can't keep the 233 and get the DSotM, so if you are in my position, would you sell the 233? Appreciate everyone's input and thoughts. Will also post in the Omega sub-forum to see how the reactions differ
Turnaround times for RSC Toronto
Just curious if anyone has had experience with RSC in Toronto, and how long it typically takes to receive a watch back from full serviceThanks dudes
