Falling in love with the 5196
Hey All,I've been wanting to add a precious metal dress watch for while, but my eye has been firmly set on my next stainless sports watch acquisition. My friend and I have been talking dress watches and took a trip to NYC to do some browsing. After having the 5196 on, I'm obsessed. I have a Rolex Sub and I've always been a one watch guy, but I really want a piece of Haute Horlogerie. Before being derailed by the 5196 my plan was to get the RO 15202 and it be my only watch. It's obviously not as robust as the Sub, so I've been having doubts. With the price difference between what the 5196 is available for and the 15202, I would be able to justify the stretch and keep the Sub and get the 5196. I feel like I'd have a pretty well rounded two watch collection. Does that make any sense to anyone?? haha Am I nuts to be thinking to forgo the Jumbo? I looked at the 5196J and the 'R'. I only tried on the 'J' because the strap was already flexed and I felt bad bending the perfect strap of the 'R'

Thoughts on the P2004?
Over the last 5 years I've had two different 311's. I loved that model. I must have right, I bought two. But the same issue made me sell them both. Reliability! Both of them had several service issues that upset me. You can see very detail posts over at Paneristi using the same handle as I have here. I was just wondering what others people thoughts and experiences were with the P2004 plus its variants. My issues currently, I love the seconds reset feature, titanium weight is huge for me plus the 12 hour GMT. I was considering the 233 but I really didn't want a ss model as I have a AP 15710 diver and missed my Panerai's but wanted something lighter. The domed crystal is a non factor for me as I like it a lot but when I had a 351 the way that looked in certain lighting the two types were a wash in terms of likability. Advices on 1st Panerai: automatic or self-winding? 221 vs 233
Hi, I have always been a Rolex guy (stainless subs), mostly because of their simplicity. I am really starting to like the Panerai for the same reason, I love the narrative, I am an avid scuba diver, it seems to be a great fit... but I have no experience with self winding movements. Right now the two models I am looking at, both GMT are the PAM 221 and the 233 which has the self winding movement. Are both 100% Panerai in house movements?Any suggestions. Is one movement better? Also is the 221 a very recent addition to the Panerai line. I was wondering since I have never seen one for sale on the classified?Cheers.
