COMCO: Swatch Group Can Stop Mechanical Movement Sales in 2020
Switzerland's Competition Commission (COMCO) has approved a plan allowing the Swatch Group to reduce gradually sales of mechanical movements to companies outside the group over the next six years, and to halt sales completely in 2020. Click here for details on the ruling. The mechanical movement ruling settles a controversial issue that has bedeviled the Swiss watch industry for the past four years. On the related C and even more controversial C issue of sales of escapements, the regulating organ in a mechanical watch, COMCO left in place its July 12 ruling that it is premature to allow any reductions in Swatch Group sales of those key components. The Swatch Group issued no formal reaction to the decision on mechanical movements. O ring part of service or an extra?
I gave my watch to a local jeweler who said it would be cleaned, lubricated scratches removed etc. We agreed on a price ($300) which is cheaper than his normal rate on the premise if I was satisfied with his work I would give him another watch to do the same. He calls yesterday and say the watch needs an Oring which is $75. He said its a genuine omega part. He also said there was an alternate for like $20. Is this the normal pricing for an Oring or is does something sound askew?
Ok, so I THINK I know the answer but....
I just got a white dialed Rolex Datejust a couple of months ago. To the dismay of my wife, I'm thinking of adding another nice watch to my household. [Hey, I just turned 52, complex anyone...?] Anyway, I want a black dialed moonphase chrono. So, there is the Omega Speedmaster, or the Longines moonphase, costing about $1,500 less. Gotta get the Omega, right??
Look at the watch Kevin Hart was married in!
Hello all! Although I'm not a regular follower of celebrities and the goings-on in Hollywood, I just had to post a quick screen shot. Actor/comedian Kevin Hart got married this past weekend and as many of us know, Kevin is a hard-core WIS! Well, the watch he was wearing on his wedding day is simply amazing. Here's a quick pic of the blinged-out Patek for you guys to enjoy. And P.S....her ring wasn't to shabby either!
A DIY Leather NATO
Being somewhat partial to nylon NATOs I haven't tried this myself. It seems easy enough. Why pay $50+ for something so simple? Just take your time..designsponge/2012/03/...atchstrap.html
