Talking Watches: With Andre Iguodala
This is the summer of Andre Iguodala. The 31-year-old small forward for the Golden State Warriors is fresh off winning the MVP of this year's NBA finals. He's flying all over the world talking to artists and designers, presenting at the ESPY Awards, and becoming the king of New York Men's Fashion Week. In between it all, he sat down with us to talk about something that he holds very close to his heart – watches. This is your official HODINKEE Talking Watches with 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Reference 15300 1 OF 7 A stainless-steel Royal Oak (reference 15300) was Andre's dream watch for the longest time – it was also the watch he most remembers buying. It was the most expensive thing he had ever bought at the time, and though he was already in the NBA and could afford to pay for the RO, he went into the boutique and asked to make a down payment on it. The AP boutique here in New York agreed, though they h

No it's not the service time on a Patek watch I have a friend of mine, the only one really interested in watches, normal he sells them, who told me the other day that he has an order at a patek AD, didn't say which one, for a 5711 that he passed 3 years ago, he celebrated the birthday the other day by calling the AD who told him Jerome you're still on the list don't worry, you're arriving at the top soon, with Patek soon can mean 6, 12, 18 months, no one knows, Patek time is like another dimension, something unknown and impossible to understand to us simple mortalsThat's really crazy, when I went to the Paris salon to pass an order for the 5712 they wouldn't even take it, said the waiting list was too huge, and not only on 5711/5711/5167, on all SS models, there is not one SS Nautilus or 5167 on which they take orders, except the 5164, which was basically the only one I was able to try but even if it's very nice it wouldn't be a keeper for me, the 5712 is and I hope the 5167R will b
It's here.....
Wow! Better pics later. I'm so amazed I like watches 😉
Got my 16200 back from Rolex service... and it's super-broken :(
Really disappointing. I got it back two weeks ago and wore it virtually 24/7 without issue. I was amazed at the condition they sent it back in (it looked brand new).I was sick this past weekend, so it sat on my nightstand, which meant it needed a re-wind this morning. At around 2pm I noticed the date was off; it had jumped ahead a day. No biggie, I'll just wind it back, I thought. As I wound it back, the date switched at 7:55pm, rather than ~12:00! Uh oh. It also slowly crawled the date backwards, then snapped, as I wound the time over a two-hour span, rather than just snapping at a specific time. It was then that I realized the watch is actually running super-slow. I've lost approximately two hours since this morning (it was reading 12pm when it was actually 2pm).I called them and now I have to send it back. It's awfully disappointing to get a watch back from the official Rolex service after six weeks only for it to have these issues, especially after paying $1K to get it fully serviced
