Watches at Wimbledon: Who Wears What
As many watch aficionados and tennis fans know, some of the Wimbledon tournament’s biggest stars are also “brand ambassadors” for some watch brand or other. So which watch will we see on the wrist of the eventual men’s and ladies’ Wimbledon champs at the trophy presentation this year? We don’t know yet, but here’s a primer on which tennis players wear which timepieces.Swiss maestro Roger Federer, he of the record-breaking 17 Grand Slam titles, grew up in Basel, home to the world’s biggest watch fair. He’s also a discerning watch fan himself, and has been an ambassador for Rolex for several years, wearing a distinctive Rolex watch on many of the occasions he has hoisted a tournament-winning trophy. Lately, he has been partial to a platinum Cosmograph Daytona. 5396 purchase in dubai - wise move?
Hello all, - just joined the forum having Bought my new Rolex Sub date a couple of months ago in Malta from the AD there, I'm very happy with it, but now decided a dress up watch is needed- I guess this is how the watch bug starts ..!)Visited a PP Dealer in Dubai with the intention of looking only at a Calatrava, but was blown clean away with a Annual calendar 5036G-11.Anyone consider it too complicated for a dress watch ?It would clearly be significant investment and hopefully as a thing of true beauty the watch will be a keeper: so does anyone here have any Dubai buying experience or sage advice? This dealer is in the main Mall in Dubai and not in an airport outlet.SteveMalta
Newbie with questions prior to purchase - 5711/1A / 5167A
Hello Patek aficionados,I have gradually migrated from Rolex discussion to this one after seeing great pictures of 5711 and 5167 by Puffy, dddreess, kilyung, brady, TimeOnHand and many others on this forum. I'm thinking it is time for me to acquire my first Patek . I have small collection of Rolexes - DeepSea and GMT IIc. I'm considering trading in the DS for something smaller and more understated. The three pieces that made the short list - PP 5711/1A, PP 5167A and AP 15400. As a lot of people here I have job where the watch can be scratched by the desk or my computer - nothing extreme. On the weekend we do a lot of family activities like skiing, ice skating, bike riding, swimming and such. I'm looking for watch that could do it all with me without needing to baby it.I have asked my wife for her opinion on the styles and she likes the 5167 best with 15400 closely second. I'm leaning towards 5711 for its timeless design. It is going to be my watch so the ultimate decision is with me. T
