RGM Marks 20 Years With Third In-House Caliber
RGM, the pioneering Pennsylvania-based watch brand founded in 1992 by Roland G. Murphy, turns 20 years old in 2012. Murphy commemorated the anniversary in the manner he knows best: by developing his brand’s third in-house mechanical movement, called Caliber 20, and outfitting it in a new watch that RGM introduced at January’s Geneva Time Exhibition.Caliber 20 joins its predecessors, RGM’s groundbreaking Caliber 801 in 2008 and the MM2 Pennsylvania Tourbillon movement in 2010, in the exclusive fraternity of “Made in the U.S.A.” watch movements manufactured entirely at Murphy’s small atelier in Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County, a traditional center of watchmaking since the 1800s.Fittingly, the watch’s movement incorporates a distinctly American technological touch, one nearly lost to antiquity: the so-called “motor barrel” system. the new Versace watch contains tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl
The exclusive material used for the case and buckle of the new Versace watch contains tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl that give them a stunning finish. It adsorbs the daylight and then provides the watch with a glamorous shine when night falls. The material has been professionally tested to provide not only beauty but also supreme comfort on the wrist.
Passed up a 5164 today... should I have?
I was passing my AD today and so thought I'd pop in for a coffee and a chat..He brought out 2 pieces to show me.. one was a 5711 blue dial which I've never tried on before - Not avail to buy but he also brought out a steel 5164 which was for sale.. we chatted about it and I was tempted but in the end when side by side with my 5167r I decided either it wasn't the right next Patek for me or at least not today..Was I right?Deal was List priceI think had it been a piece that was going up by 20% then it would def have been more likely going home with me.. but as it was I just felt that it didn't sing to me in the way my RG one did... Tips for Patek Museum
I will be in Paris for a few weeks and plan on making a 2-3 day trip to Geneva to visit the Patek museum. If anyone has any tips about where to stay, restaurants, or anything I should now it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for offering suggestions?
