Marcello C. Hydrox Watch
I really like Marcello C. watches even though most of their watches are more or less "revisions" of the designs of other brands. I am usually less friendly when a brand doesn't offer up too much originality, but Marcello C. has a soft place on my heart for a few reasons. First, I like their quality. I have a few of their pieces and can say that despite what you think of the origin of their designs, they do sell nicely made watches which are a good value.Second, a Marcello C. watch was my very first mechanical acquisition. This was about 8 - 9 years ago. That was a Nettuno 3 watch, and I eventually reviewed it here a while back. Marcello C. is a German based brand but had/has a US operation out of Minnesota. Their US website has been up and down, so I am not totally sure what is going on with them. You can always visit their German site and try to order watches by asking (by e-mailing them).Anyhow, here is a new watch from Marcello C. called the Hydrox. Yes, it does have (a lot) of IWC
I tested the water... And the waters fine...
Been quite a few enablers on this one so thank you Steve, Tom, Chris, Neil, Paul and Ken You eased me in at the deep end.And I'm smitten with this Ti & ceramic beauty.Sorry on pic quality having to use PB as can't get the new system on here to have any of it
Service Question - has anybody ever heard of this?!?!
Was wondering if I could get some input from the members. Last week I dropped my RO15300 off at the AD for a service. It's been about 7 years since the watch was last seen by AP. The watch was keeping good time but the power reserve was down to 6-10 hours, hence the service. Once I noticed the power reserve issue, the watch went straight into the safe and didn't see a wrist again. Watch has never seen water or been dropped. Was worn in rotation pretty evenly with 5 other watches. When I dropped the watch off at the AD they said that the service would run approximately $1300 CAD ($1000 USD). Sounded about right to me. Yesterday, the AD called me back and said that they had received an estimate from the APSC in Canada at $4000 CAD ($3100 USD)!!! I was told that the watch required a CTR - Complete Technical Revision. I had never heard the term before and can't even find too much about it online. I have submitted a contact request on the AP website but while I wait for a response, I though
Speedmaster Triple Date
So, what is the deal with these Triple Date watches?Nice looking watches and lots of complications for the price, but are they reliable? Are they tough to maintain? Also, it would be an occasional watch in the rotation and is it a pain to reset if it runs out of steam?Any input appreciated from the Omega community. Thanks!
Wait or buy?
Hi all, as you know I just got a 5726 today, and already have a 5712-1A, basically it's the only 2 nice watches I have, flipped my RG Daytona and the Hulk.My question is, my 2 PP are not really beaters, before I always had a sub or something of the sort, I plan on MAYBE getting, not sure, a 5167R in a few years, I know it's not a beater, I was thinking either get a 114060 (non date sub) and that would be my trio, or just wearing my old Omega for swimming and sports and just get a 5167R when I can, I would swim with it and practice non violent sports.Knowing that I found it not very comfortable to wear heavy watches like a sub recently, exact opposite before I needed to feel the watch, not the case since I got my 5712, so do you think I should get the sub and flip it when/IF I get the 5167R, or just wear my Omega? Here's a few pics of the Omega. Thanks in advance for your repliesP1000729.JPGP1000730.JPG
