Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends September 26, 2014
It has been two weeks since Apple announced its smart watch C the Apple Watch. We have weighed in with our thoughts,?and so have many others.?Let us revisit the Apple Watch by taking a look at what some of the top names in the watch industry think. And in this roundup, you will find watch luminaries such as Jean-Claude Biver, Fran?ois-Paul Journe, Kari Voutilainen, and more sharing?their thoughts and opinions on the Apple Watch. You wouldn't want to miss it.Apart from the Apple Watch, we also visit the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair to see how the massive Chinese watch industry is doing. China is of course the largest producer of watches and some of the watches that we saw might just surprise you. Moving on, we check out new watches from Jaeger-LeCoultre and Breguet, and we also tell you why Orient might just be your best bet for affordable dress watches. We also check out the new Genequand System Regulator to find out how it can and might revolutionize watch movements. And finally,
Leather straps quality issue..crazy disappointing.
I had Very Disappointing experience with AP leather straps..2 sets of new leather straps split at the lugs..within 2months of light usage..Brought the 1st pair new from boutique, the straps split within 3weeks, AP SC kindly replace me a new set and the same problem happen again!!These straps are just not beefy enough at the lug areas..For the price they cost this is Not acceptable..Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using Tapatalk
can't decide between 2254.50 and 2208.50
i am having trouble deciding which one...in reality neither watch will be used for it's true intended purpose!
5712 opinions
I've been thinking about getting my first Patek. Since I already have several other 3 hand watches as well as an Explorer II & GMTIIC, the 5167, a great watch by the way, would not be different enough for me. I very much like the moon phase & small seconds complication as well as the very thin case and alligator strap with fold over clasp. For those of you who own or have owned this watch, what are your likes and dislikes?
Resale value
What are your guys thoughts on resale value of entry level Pateks? I have pretty much come to the conclusion that a watch I buy from now on has the potential to be flipped up. So far I have more or less broke even on all of my flips up. I don't flip instantly, but rather over a few years of careful wear. I'm pondering a more conservative watch and I don't really understand the resale of Pateks (and APs for the matter). All I ever see for sale is near mint examples. Hard to tell what resale is when 98% of the watches being sold are near mint.So will a 5167 or a 5711 hold its value if carefully worn over 2-5 years? It is also a more interesting price point. It seems watches under 10k sell fairly quickly, but north of 15k and they sit a bit. I'm not saying I'll sell it for sure, but love the fact that I can keep flipping up my watches without losing much if any. If I were to buy a Rolex, most I'd lose is a few hundred, what about a Patek if I decided it wasn't for me?TIA.
