What Features Should A Casio Smartwatch Have?
It is almost the middle of 2015, and now that the Apple Watch is here, people are still asking me "when is Casio going to release their smartwatch?" In a sense, much of what Casio already produces are "smartwatches," and the Japanese company arguably created the segment with a number of interesting watches over the years that do more than just tell the time (starting back in the 1980s during the "quartz revolution"). In 2011, Casio even began producing Bluetooth-connected G-Shock watches that offer simple notifications and music controls along with a small number of other features (which continues in some models produced today). With all that in mind, why is it that a company which should be the obvious front-runner as a traditional watch brand (and electronics company) to making smartwatches, have seemingly nothing in their pipeline to address the question of what Casio's answer to the smartwatch will be?The high-end Casio G-Shock MT-G costs $1,000, showing that there is market for mo

Autodromo Group B Review
When people discuss the great eras of watch making, the 80's don't often come up. It was a time when quartz had leveled the industry, inexpensive pieces flooded in and digital was emerging. Nor do the 80's come up when people speak of great style and fashion, plagued by fluorescent colors, padded shoulders and oddly baggy shirts. But when people discuss Rally car racing, it's a different story altogether. With Autodromo's new line of watches they drew upon the distinctly 80's era of rally car racing known as Group B. As Sean pointed out when we first announced the watches, Group B was a notoriously brutal and dangerous. Cars were light and had monstrous amounts of power. It was an era that fostered a lot of technological innovation in the sport, but resulted in too many accidents as well as a few deaths, ending after 4 years. Many consider it the "golden age" of rally car racing. As with previous lines of Autodromo watches, the design found its inspiration in those beastly machines, draw

Seeking Advice Regarding a Patek
I'm an old retired guy who developed an irrational interest in watches only a few years ago. I'm not wealthy but I've managed to acquire two nice watches in the past two years, a stainless steel Breguet Marine and a rose gold JLC MUT Moon. Recently I've been strongly tempted by a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date but I've found it difficult to open my wallet that wide for a Rolex. I'm beginning to agree with my wife, who thinks that a YG Day-Date is too blingy for me. I think I might prefer to sell my JLC and replace it with a modest manual wind Patek Philippe. The PP models that appeal to me are the Calatrava 5119 (J or R) and 5196 (J or R) and the Gondolo 5124J. I love the art deco styling of the 5124J but would also be happy with either of the more traditional 5119 or 5196. Can you give me any advice regarding the relative merits of the three PP models I've mentioned?
