Bremont Limited Edition MBII/TWG Watch for The Watch Gallery
Bremont Watches has announced a limited edition version of the MBII pilots watch for the British retailer The Watch Gallery. This new model, the MBII/TWG, sports a very handsome midnight blue case barrel (the standard MBII model offers either green, orange, or grey) and has been fitted with a sapphire display back that is similar to what is used on the new Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer. The MBII was one of Bremont's break out models and effectively offered open availability of the MBI, which is only available to pilots who had actually ejected in a Martin-Baker aircraft ejection seat and is recognizable thanks to a bright red aluminum case barrel. From a watch perspective, the MBI and MBII are noteworthy due to their use of a proprietary anti-shock system which Bremont developed in a partnership with Martin-Baker to protect the BE-36AE movement from the extreme g-forces experienced by some pilots. I really like that the changes to the MBII/TWG are subtle enough to make the watch easily re
Omega takes the look of classic Omega timepieces
Omega takes the look of classic Omega timepieces and combines with the modern of the Speedmaster case look. It is an interesting drop-down list box. You also get the logo style vintage Omega red. The needle of the hours arrow blend well with the needle of the minutes dagger and the old style numerals. The tachometer bezel complements the Speedmaster character. The back of the watch probably has some etching on the theme of the Olympic Games. The size is probably about 42 mm wide and the watch will be steel. Inside of the watch is Omega co-axial 3888 calibre automatic movement - which is likely to certified chronometer. Functions more or less include a 12-hour chronograph and day date calendar. A very cool and functional design perfectly awaken our thoughts of Omega and the Olympic Games. Only thing they have left was the logo of Olympic rings as the counterweight on the chronograph seconds hand - but that he would have obstructed the dial too. Price will be available early next year of
Bring a Loupe: Vintage Chronographs And Dive Watches From Universal Geneve, Breitling, Lip, And Others
This week is dedicated to the new releases of Baselworld, but never fear, Bring A Loupe is here for your weekly dose of some of the most interesting vintage watches out there. This week, we will focus on chronographs, starting with a sumptuous Universal Geneve from the mid 1940s. We will also feature a couple of surprising dive watches, from an obscure Lip to a famous modern Blancpain Aqua Lung. Finally, you will find one Tudor Monte Carlo that you should not bid on. This is your Bring A Loupe for March 18, 2016. A Breitling Top Time Reference 7656 C A Large Reverse Panda 1 OF 8 Breitling introduced the Top Time line in the mid-1960s to appeal to a younger market; as a result those watches featured more playful dials than their tool-watch counterparts, including the Navitimer. This Top Time reference 7656 offers the same great reverse panda dial that can be found throughout the Top Time range. A late edition, it comes in a rare 42 mm case, versus 38 mm for the earl
Trying something different this morning...
Da wife never warmed up to the white rubber on my Trulli. This morning she suggested putting it on the newly acquired Rubberclad. Here is the result - she maybe on to something here.
