On The Block: Three Modern (But Out Of Production) Watches To Consider From Next Week's Antiquor
I am often asked if there are any watches being made today that I would deem collectible in the long run. While the every day answer would be, “no, at least not in the same way that vintage watches are collectible” there are some exceptions. We are in something of a renaissance of watchmaking, with new materials abound, millions of dollars in R&D budgets, amazing technology, and more appetite for mechanical timepieces than ever before. So there are bound to be some watches that we'll look back at and say, "Yup, that was special."Here are three modern watches, all made within the last four years, that I genuinely believe have a chance at being collectible down the road, all for sale in Antiquorum’s sale next week. A. Lange & Sohne Grand Lange 1 Lumen 1 OF 3 There aren’t many young brands that have attracted the eye of serious watch collectors like Lange – and their limited edition stuff, even more so. In 2012, we s
The perfect pair?
I could be wrong but for the first time I think I have my perfect pair, with time this could change of course but there were very few watches I purchased that I found to be perfect, my first Rolex, 116610LN was one, wore it 2 years 24/7 and just stopped wearing it because after getting my Patek 5712 it felt really too uncomfortable, my Patek was the second, when I got a 5726 on strap I really liked it but never got to love it, maybe would have been different if I had gotten on bracelet, but no.All which came and went, Rolex sub c LN and LV, BLNR, Daytona 116515, Panerai 233, 28, 82, Blancpain L-Evolution Alarm GMT, Patek 5726, may have forgotten one or two.So of all these only 3 felt 100% right, the sub and my Patek which I view as a sporty dress piece, and my AP as a real sports watch, I really enjoy wearing each as much as the other, thing that never happened before, always preferred one to the others and wore that one 80% of the time. Here's a few fresh pics, sorry for the quality it
Aqua Terra Chronomter - Tek Silver or Gray Dial?
Hi - I am new to this forum and am currently looking to buy the new AQT (2008 onwards model) but unsure which dial colour to go for. I want it to be a more casual looking watch, to wear both with a suit every day and also jeans/t-shirt, etc. Most have advised me to go for the silver finish as it will also look great with a brown leather strap if Ii want to interchange, and it perhaps looks a little less formal?Currently own a 19 year old Deville Quartz in gold, so whatever I choose it will be very different.Any advice would be great.Thanks.Matt
New font on Submariner dial?
Hello guys.I need you guys opinion. I am not a Rolex expert so I am still confusing about this matter.I just got a new Sub no-date from my local Rolex AD today. What I found is the difference of dial fonts. I compared it with the picture of my old Sub no-date (early 2017).The letters in ROLEX and SUBMARINER on the new one become bold and different font as you can see the two pics as below. And f in the ft letter and = mark is different. This is the old one I had. This is the new one I got. What I am concerning is if my watch is not 2018 one. Or all 2018 Subs have the same dial font with mine? The AD said the watch is 2018 brand new one and they just received it from Rolex. But I have no idea any dial font changes in recent Subs.Any advice will be truly appreciated. Thank you for taking your time to read my post.
Black Bay on Everest
Just made my first foray into Everest rubber straps, and I have to say I’m impressed. I think I like it more than the original leather or cloth straps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
