Watches NEWS
Hands-On: With The F.P.Journe Octa Lune, Up-Sized To 42 MM
In most of F.P.Journe's watches, there seems to be an uninterrupted flow from concept?to design, prototype, and?production.?This results in?watches of an?uncommon, seemingly personal, integrity that extends to both aesthetics and technical attributes.?Thus, while more than a modicum of journalistic integrity is required for what we do at HODINKEE,?I don't shy away from proclaiming myself to be a Journe fan-boy (though not to this degree). That said, I didn't?consider the release of the Octa Lune in a 42 mm case to be groundbreaking news. It did, however, make me look at F.P.Journe in a new light: as a global business, and not just a daring watchmaker. 2 OF 9 The new case size was developed primarily to increase legibility of the timekeeping dials, at the request of clients.?(Additionally, whether we support it or not, there is in fact a market for larger wristwatches and the new Octa Lune can now appeal to that market segment.) 3 OF 9 Even on my relatively sm

Ceramic bezels on 42 ROOs?
Hi. I always thought ROOs were very beautiful sport watches, but as a man with relatively small wrists, I could never pull off the 44mm ROOs. So I set my eyes on 42mm ROOs but they lack the black ceramic bezels that I always loved to see on ROOs. Has it always been like this where the ceramic bezels were reserved only for the 44s? Any chance AP might throw in the ceramic bezels for the 42s in the near future??Oh and forgot to mention... any chance of bar index for the 42 ? I seem to prefer the aesthetics of the 44s except the size...
Buying preowned AP warranty
I'm looking at buying a 2012 pre owned royal oak. Please could someone confirm if the AP warranty stays with the watch or is it only valid for the original purchaser? Also, I've heard about making sure you get your 'sticker' or 'stamp' from AP for a third year of warranty(?) could someone enlighten me on what this means and how this works. I'm in the UK of that makes a difference.Hoping to be able to post up an INCOMING thread soon. Thanks
A good day...
One of the things that I love about Patek is that they are nondescript. Chances are very few of us get asked is that a Patek? or how much does it cost? This generally suits me fine.Imagine my surprise today when an airline passenger (not first class) seated next to me says, excuse me but is that a Patek Calatrava? Wow. The fact that he knew it was a Patek much less a Calatrava was astonishing. Turns out he's interested in watches but doesn't have the resources to indulge himself in this hobby. He was wearing a very clean and obviously well cared for Seiko on strap. He isn't on watch forums but gets his knowledge from watch magazines and really knows his stuff. After a very pleasant hour discussing the merits of various watch topics (silicone hairsprings was an interesting conversation), he says, someday I'd love to try on a Patek as he doesn't live near an AD and has never visited one. Well what's a guy to do right? Would you like to try mine on? I let him wear my watch and he was spee
