Harry Winston Midnight GMT Tourbillon Only Watch 2011
You can't buy it. Well technically you can, but you need to fly to Monaco in September and bid really high. This is Harry Winston's entry into the Only Watch 2011 charity auction that I keep profiling when new entries are released. Harry Winston's offering is this Midnight GMT Tourbillon (ref. 450/MATTZ45PL.A). The reason I am giving it extra attention is due to the way I feel it encapsulates much of what the modern Harry Winston watch brand is trying to be - and there will be just one piece.The movement inside of the watch is not new. It comes from an existing GMT Tourbillon watch in the Ocean, not Midnight collection. It may have been used in other HW pieces before. Though I do like its execution on this watch better. The automatic movement has a large power reserve of 110 hours and features a dial exposed tourbillon, off-centered time display, and a word-time function. Matching watch with significant other?
Do most here have matching watch with their significant other? Such as a Nautilus for men and lady?I personally don't have a matching watch with wife except we both have Daytona but not the exactly same line or his/hers. I wear the SS usually (now also a 5167) and she wears the RG (now the twenty-four steel).

Annual calendar enters October...
Yesterday was then end of my first 30-day month with the Nautilus Annual Calendar. I was both curious to see the gears grind away and also wondered if an old dog (me) could learn a new trick - make a time-lapse video of the event. I'm fascinated with time-lapse but don't have the right software tools so I resorted to the manual crowbar method...At 11:40 I found that the watch had already staged Sep 31st ;) in prep for the big 10/1. It took until 1 am for the date wheel to get perfectly aligned and I had lost patience at 12:45. Day of week clicked right in at 11:59. OK, well, whatever...The video is small and a bit jerky from embedding here and is better viewed on Youtube and even better yet on my machine. It's a bit crude but the soundtrack softens the blow (Lucky Thompson, anyone?).If I ever do this again (not likely) I'm gonna reset the watch and do it during the day!
