Zenith Launches Limited-Edition El Primero Chronograph at 2015 Paris Tour Auto
Last week, I had the opportunity to join Zenith in Paris for the launch of the 2015 Tour Auto Optic 2000 classic car rally, which marked both the Swiss brand’s inaugural year as the Tour’s official timekeeper and the debut of the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Tour Auto Edition timepiece. Scroll down for more on the event and the limited-edition watch.Zenith, founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1865 by George Favre-Jacot, commemorates its 150th anniversary this year, and the sponsorship of the Tour Auto, one of the most important events on the international classic-car-racing calendar, is but one of a number of initiatives the brand has taken to increase awareness of its many milestones and accomplishments. BASELWORLD 2009 - NEW Reference - Calatrava 5153J
Patek Philippe 5153JThe new Calatrava Officier Ref. 5153 features the Officier, a yellow gold case as rare as it is complex, created by the craftsmen of the brand’s manufacture. This timepiece bears all the hallmarks of refined classical watchmaking in the purest Patek Philippe tradition: the manufactory-made 324 Central Second caliber, Bassine-style bezel, sapphire crystal back protected by a hinged anti-dust cover, horns with visible screw attachments, a distinctive turban-shaped crown, and a finely worked Opaline dial with a hand-guilloch center and gold applique hour markers.MovementAutomatic, 324 S C caliberFunctionsHours, minutes, seconds and dateCase18K yellow gold, 38 mm, Bassine bezel, Sapphire crystal back with hinged coverHorns with rounded ends and with visible screw attachments, Water-resistant to 30 mDialSilvered opaline with hand-guilloch center, Gold applique hourmarkers, Direct-drive center seconds-hand, Date window at 3 o’clockBracelet/StrapMatt chocolat
Dodging Walls
With so much of the Royal Oak's beauty lying in its perfectly finished surfaces and facets, one must be reasonably careful to not introduce his watch to too many walls or tables. But at the same time, you've got to enjoy your watch and not sweat it too much... My question is: are there any parts of the RO that one should be particularly careful with? Parts that, if scuffed, are harder to restore come time for servicing? Or does servicing tend to eliminate just about any scuffs anywhere?
