Sowind Group Chairman Luigi Macaluso Passes Away
Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD) has issued a statement announcing that its Chairman, Luigi Macaluso, has unexpectedly passed away at age 62 after suffering a heart attack. Luigi, known as Gino by those closest to him, was born in Turin, Italy, in 1948. He was married to Monica and the father of four children, Stefano, Massimo, Anna and Margherita. More than 10 years ago, his two sons joined him at the head of Sowind Group. An architect, former motor racing driver and visionary entrepreneur, he had been behind the wheel of Girard-Perregaux since 1992. A firm believer in the value of an authentic Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, he pioneered the development of an integrated production strategy. A charismatic leader, he was able to make Sowind Group an essential player in Swiss Haute Horlogerie.Stefano and Massimo Macaluso will strive to perpetuate his vision for this company of which he was so fond, and to continue the many projects that he had initiated with passion.
Three On Three: Comparing In-House, Manually-Wound Dress Watches Under $20,000
Welcome to Three On Three. It's one thing for us to give you an in-depth look at a single watch, to wear it and review it, on its own. But there are always options out there. With Three On Three we select a category, choose three watches that represent competitive takes on a theme, and compare them head-to-head. To kick things off, we went with a basic in any man's watch wardrobe, the manually-wound dress watch. Of course we had to get a little more selective, so we've picked three that all feature in-house movements for under $20,000: A. Lange & Söhne's Saxonia in pink gold, F.P. Journe's Chronomètre Bleu, and Vacheron Constantin's Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds in pink gold. All three are seriously impressive entry points into true high-end watchmaking and here Benjamin Clymer, Stephen Pulvirent, and Paul Boutros dissect them side-by-side. 1 OF 52 Let's start with the set-up. For someone looking to get into real in-hou
The Winner is.....The EOT
In continuation to an earlier thread of mine, I've chosen the EOT in steel over the RG Skeleton. Now comes the tough part, Parting with the cash. 49K to be exact. My AD started the negotiations at 55K, leading me to believe that was his cost but after further investigation and couple of text exchanges with Mike (MB23) Thank You Mr. Russo, true wholesale on the piece is $44.5K. Also got the AP trip thrown in as well as a wonderful table clock that AP makes. The watch is from the AP boutique in Miami thus the Miami setting. My city's coordinates have been sent to AP and it will be customized when I visit the factory in April. Here is a quick shot at the AD's, waiting to be shipped to me by Saturday. Can't wait and will definitely not sleep much. Thanks all for their input. Will post wrist shots once its in my grubby little hands. Here is the table clock & the watch. Looking to get a white dial PAM
I've always wanted to get a white dial watch, and never thought about Panerai until I sat next to a guy on a plane wearing one. It was a good looking watch!I'm looking at the PAM 655 and the PAM 1523. I see there are some small differences between the radioMir and Luminor, but why such the big price difference? The RadioMir is $10000 MSRP and the Luminor is $7400 MSRP. There only seem to be a few minor differences between the P4000 and P9010 movement. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?
ND Sub vs SD43
Got the ND sub last week as I didn't want to miss the chance when I saw one at the Rolex boutique last week. But I just love my SD43 can't take it off my wrist, so I have not yet the incentive to unwrap my ND Sub yet, and not sure when I will want to put this ND sub on my wrist. Should I just sell the ND Sub? Or keep it in case one day I get tired of SD43?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
