Watch Winner Announced: Mark Carson Ka La + Special Offer
Congrats to Shawn H. from Simi Valley California, the winner of the Mark Carson Individual Design Ka La watch that we?gave away on watches-dealer last month. Mark Carson also has a wonderful "Endless Summer" promotion right now that we think is too nice to pass up. For the price of one watch you get three straps, a Hawaiian Koa wood box, and a really nice Koa wood pen made by a local person in Hawaii. Certainly check it out. Also, the?September watches-dealer giveaway is for an automatic March LA.B AM1 watch.
Romain Gauthier Logical One Watch: How Sensible Is It?
Independent watch maker Romain Gauthier (R. Gauthier) has just released a new high-end watch which at the same time we both really want and completely don't need. Oh, horologyyou wicked maiden. I highly disagree with the name "Logical One." It implies that this watch errs on the side of prudence and sensibility. Which is most often not the case with beautiful high-end timepieces such as this. There is nothing logical about it. However, to give credence where credence is due, Mr. Gauthier comes from an engineering background and the basis of this watch is to logically improve a particular watch movement feature that I quite love. So let's check it out.Logical One is all about improving the age-old fusee and chain transmission systems that move power from the mainspring to the rest of the movement. I love these because they look like tiny bicycle chains, are hard as hell to produce, and are very clever. What are they meant to do? Basically it is all about "constant force." Meaning that a
Ceramic - what's so special?
So I am contemplating a new AP and am taking a liking to the full ceramic 44 chrono. Is there a place where I may find more information on what makes ceramic so special (beyond scratch resistance)? What I really like is when the light hits the ceramic case, it looks spectacular. Also, when will the ceramic chrono be available for purchase?
incoming Calatrava, please answer ?
I purchased my first PP today and expect arrival by Thursday. It is 34 MM and preowned. My birthday was this past Thursday and my wife said get something you want. Is she great or what? Anyway the leather strap is black on my incoming and I prefer brown. The seller was unable to assist in changing to an authenticl brown strap so I passed on exchange. I have searched in vain today for the lug size on this watch with the hopes of finding a genuine PP strap on TRF to my liking. Can any of you knowledgable PP folks tell me the strap deminsions I need for this watch? Having worn Rolex for about 30 years I know I will have some adjusting to do with the smaller size of this watch vs my Tudor BB or 116718. It comes with the papers from the AD, non original box and a 2 year warranty but at a more economic price point for me since its used. While its to late to ask now, are there any drawbacks to obtaining service with the manufacturer if you are not the orgiinal purchaser should I need
My first nerve racking ceramic strap change
Not hard just different and an inherent fear of the case material. I like the contrast!
