So begins a series of articles that will appear both here and on Luxistwatches-dealer chronicling the many lessons I learned, and splendors I witnessed as a guest of luxury German watch poster child, A. Lange & S?hne. To help all of you, I am going to first assist you with the pronunciation of the brand name, which I only recently mastered. Phonetically, it is Ah Lhangeh und Zoneh. For convenience, I am going to leave out the umlaut over the "o" in "S?hne," but it should be there. The folks in Costa Mesa, California, can now claim to have just that, as Lange has opened up its fourth boutique in the United States inside the well-known South Coast Plaza. RG 44 dining at The Ritz
We've had some talk that the 44 ROOs can't easily be worn with a suit so I thought I'd wear my RG to the fanciest of dinners; Puttin' on the Ritz. It fit just fine under a normal shirt and suit and I completely forgot I was wearing the watch the entire time. However this was part due to the most wonderful dining experience. The dining room is majestic and makes you feel like a prince, but then the glorious food and impeccable and friendly service had me elevated to feeling like a king. I also ordered a dish off the menu, my favourite, and they made it specially for me and even with no supplementary charge. It was a Tournedos Rossini, a filet steak topped with foie gras and black truffles. It happened to be the fave of the sommelier too, word had got around of my special order, and he was so excited to see it he actually brought my dish out and removed the cloche himself to present it to me. Planet Ocean from AD
I've had a Sea-Dweller 16600 for about 4 years now, and had Subs before that, and have decided that I want a 42mm Planet Ocean with the Orange numbers, bracelet and black bezel. Coming from the Rolex world where the AD's aren't prone to discounting, I wonder what sort of discount I might get from an Omega AD. Are they more likely to make a deal since it is a discontinued model now?
