Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends August 28, 2015
We begin this round-up with a feature story on watch servicing and repair. Yup, servicing and repair, two words that we watch collectors and enthusiasts?absolutely dread C and yet, it is an?inevitable and essential part of?owning a fine watch. As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, parts will become worn over time and oils will dry up as the days pass. The best way to deal with this, then, is understanding when and how to intervene-knowing?exactly what goes on when a watch gets serviced and what are the things that we should look out for when the time comes for us to send our watches in.Servicing aside, we are also taking a look at the history of chronographs, in particular, the monopusher kind. Today, it seems that brands are keen to impress us by communicating how?monopushers are somehow superior or more exclusive than your common two-pusher chronograph watch. Well, the simple fact is they aren't. Not only are they less functional, the monopusher chronograph actua
Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster X-Lume Watch
This is the star new Ball watches of the year in my opinion. This timepiece is a smooth evolution of the Hydrocarbon watch design. It combines so much of what I like about Ball watches and presents it in a nicely refined package that I certainly feel has the quality of a new classic for the brand. No doubt there will be spin-offs on this design for a while to come. I recently discussed some Ball watches that I like when I was visiting with Ball in Las Vegas here. Enough of you commented positively that I realized I was not alone in appreciating this brand. Which means that I think enough of you will agree with me on this watch. The new watch is the Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster X-Lume. Think of it as the astronaut-themed version of the Hydrocarbon watch. Most watches of this caliber really don't need and special enhancements to be good for use is space, but some new branding won't hurt. The watch uses a Swiss automatic ETA caliber 2836-2 movement that has the time, day, and date
looking to add an omega speedmaster to my collection..
Hi all..I have always expressed some interest to an Omega speedmaster, but its kinda difficult to find a preowned one in my country.. And with the new omega AD that opened up recently, I can get a chance of at least buying one brand new..However, please don't get me wrong, an SS speedmaster on bracelet retails here at around 7,5l.. Is that the going price? And what kind of a discount should I expect?I thought it should be more affordable comparing with a daytona per se, yet I found that they're only 2k difference.. Yet I've seen people here or someother placs sells for around 2-3k preowned..So is that the going price for preowed speedmaster? One thing I have to admit, I'm not very familiar with speedmasters, as I think they have several different types.. But I'm just talking in genereal.. And oh - I really like the strap version..And last but not least, what type of speedmaster should I get? I think I would prefer a black dial with steel and black leather strap? Thanks for reading!
Time for a change
I will be in London this weekend and thinking of chopping in my 3919j for either a 5119g or 5167. Of course, I may go for something totally different. Can anybody recommend a fair and honest dealer?
What is MSRP of Pam528 Please?! ....
Thanks a lot for the help
