Guer Man Trace Watch Is Wild And Woodsy
A watch like this upcoming Guer Man Trace is easy to make fun of. I mean it is pretty interesting look, and I see all of the artistic merit - I am sure I would even wear one. But instead of us feeling all wowed by its novelty, we are going to be compelled to laugh about it. It does come in a log watch box after all. This little concept brings me back to the early 1990s when one of my favorite cartoons of all time was on, Ren & Stimpy. Of the most iconic elements of the adultish cartoon show was their in-show advertisements of absurd hypothetical products. Do you remember "Log." The piece of wonder wood could do it all. It's Logit is big, it is heavy, it is wood. Log for boys and girls, it is better than bad, it is good. These are some lines from the jingle, can you hear me saying it out loud in a satirical serious manner as I am sure the Guer Man marketing people might. Hear it via YouTube below. The actual commercial is not on there due to copyright reasons I am sure. So what was
Speedy Pro Question
Hi Folks, proud owner of a 20th Anniversary Apollo 11 Speedy. 861 Movement. My question is, how many times should I be winding it to get it fully wound? It quit working so sent it off to Omega for service, my dealer said to wind it 40 times and it would be fully wound. I did this and the watch only ran a short time. Sent it back to Omega, they put it in quality control. The watch came back again....they said nothing was wrong with it. This time I can wind it with 200 turns of the crown and the watch will not run 24 hours before quitting. In addition, I can wind this watch 200 turns of the crown and there is no stop , as in the crown indicating the watch is fully wound. Before the watch was ever serviced I did get a stop on the crown.I did call Omega yesterday, they said something was not right and to send it back, yes. Again. What if anything am I doing wrong? Please help. Regards Al
New member of the family
I bought this watch today (sorry, iPhone 3GS shot):It came originally with a black rubber strap (the new rounded around the lugs kind) but I ordered an Omega brown croc strap and replaced it. This watch used to be offered like this in the past, it probably didn't sell well and they stopped selling it. I just like the way it looks with a brown strap.Very happy with it so far.It joins them:I will take a new family shot, hopefully better than these.
Establishing yourself with a distant Patek AD/Long Distance relationships
So there are no local Patek ADs for me, I have to get on a plane or drive 10-12 hours. I have contacted 3 of the Canadian Patek ADs and received a response from 2, only one of which actually answered any of my questions and was polite and friendly. The issue is they are in Alberta and I am in Nova Scotia, so about a 7 hour flight. The guy I was talking to mentioned I would be able to put a deposit down to get on a waiting list for a watch (I want a 5167A) but to make the purchase I would need to come in, in person. Which wouldn't be a big deal.My question is, does anyone else travel to deal with their established AD, aside from the time and travel costs are there any cons to doing so? Do they allow you to ship them your watch for service? This is one thing I will need to confirm as when looking into the Vacheron overseas, their closest AD said I could not ship my watch to them for them to service and I would need to fly there and deliver it in person for every issue and service.
New corrosion tester for OP
Maybe a little late for the 339? ;-)Luxury watchmaker Panerai recently took delivery of an Ascott S120iP. This bench top salt spray test chamber will be used at the manufacturing site in Neuchatel, Switzerland to verify the corrosion resistance of the high quality component parts that Panerai incorporate into their watches. The history of Panerai can be traced back to the 19th century when as a watch-making laboratory, they were selected as a supplier of measurement and precision instruments to the Italian Navy. That tradition and association with the sea continues into the twenty-first century with their current product range. The Ascott chamber selected by Panerai is the ever popular bench-top 120 Litre capacity model. This salt spray chamber is capable of meeting a wide range of international salt spray test standards and is ideally suited to the testing of small component parts.
