Dark side of the moon: black, black or normal?
Any of you see both in person? Thoughts?
How much restoration?
A couple of years ago I inherited my dad's old watches. One was an '80s gold plated DeVille quartz, which he was never attached to (it was a retirement gift I think) that I'm inclined to get rid of - more in another post, one day. The other was a watch he kept after he left the RAF. After doing a little bit of research, I understand it to be a relatively rare 1953 MOD / RAF issue. It is complete, in that it contains the disc and spacer found inside the case, but it has seen better days. It works, and keeps pretty good time - but to my mind, the hands don't line up (with the minute hand at 12 o'clock, the hour hand is past the hour, if that makes sense?!). The (I assume) acrylic is fairly scratched, and there seems to be a lot of filth between it and the case. The dial seems fairly good - but it's difficult to tell really through the haze of light scratches to the glass. So, I'd like to get it restored, to some extent. I think I'd like to keep it as original as possible, but I th
Another 5711 Blue Dial available at AD in the U.S.
Just got a call from a U.S. AD I had put my name down with back in October. They just today got in a 5711 blue dial, if anyone's interested just PM me.
Pam188 Luminor Daylight
Incoming today, very happy of my choice, the dial is true white and my first white Panerai. The final choice was between the PAM563 and this one. Ok, the dial is busy, but what to expect from a Chrono, and I love the position of the date, although many purists say a date does not belong on a Chrono, I love it.The brushed luminor case sits nicely on the wrist and with the shiny tachymeter bezel....beautiful contrast. The chrono pushers are nicely integrated in the also shiny crown guard. Remark that the lever of the crownguard is the other way.First thing I had to do is to change the strap as I'm not a big fan of folding clasps. Next this watch will be my companion for the summer and water activities, whenever the summer decides to come here....
Deepsea vs Batman.
I have a Deepsea that I've owned for about 2 years and I wear it only on weekends. I still love the watch but lately I've been thinking of flipping it for a Batman. I am rather large at 6'3 and 280 pounds (of solid muscle of course) so I'm thinking the gmt might be too small and I may not love it for long. Should I keep the Deepsea or get the gmt?Btw getting both is not happening. I only want one nice Rolex. I'm just a casual watch guy not my main hobby.
