SIHH: Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar
The 1966 collection has quickly become one of Girard-Perregaux’s icons. The collection is named for the Neuchatel Observatory’s Centenary Prize, awarded to GP in 1966 for its achievements in the field of chronometry. The 1966 Full Calendar is available in red gold, and in a limited edition of 199 pieces in palladium. The displays include date, day of the week, month and moon phases. The 40mm case has a sapphire back revealing the GP033M0 mechanical self-winding movement designed by the Manufacture. Palladium is a very white metal that is part of the platinum family and twenty times less abundant than gold. It does not require any rhodium plating, and it does not tarnish. The Full Calendar is priced at $19,800 for either the palladium or red gold versions and deliveries to retailers should begin around June.Technical specificationsPalladium caseDiameter: 40 mmAntireflective sapphire crystalSapphire case-backWater resistance: 30 metersGirard-Perregaux movement GP033M0Mechanic
Audemars Piguet is not exclusively about the Royal Oak line
The case is made in any 18 k white gold or platinum, with a variety of finishes on the case. The sides are polished, while the bezel is brushed and the dial is satin finished. The hands of the Cathedral of style and the hour markers are in pink gold. One of the best features is the font style of the number markers which looks classic at first, but has a unique modern flair if you observe them carefully. Nice to know Audemars Piguet is not exclusively about the Royal Oak line, nice work AP.
Pairs Well With: Max Bill by Junghans
For this edition of Pairs Well With we chose an iconic Max Bill hand-wound by Junghans. As one of, if not the, definitive Bauhaus watch, it is defined by its legibility and clean form. Thin black lines mark the perimeter of the watch and bring the eye outward to the minute markings and inward to hours. Nothing is fussy and nothing is unnecessary. Originally produced in the 1960's and later reintroduced, it is clearly a timeless design that has informed the look and feel of many generations of watches.? The goal of the pairing was to find articles of clothing that are similarly to the point, classic, purposeful and can be worn in both casual and work settings.Max Bill Watch with a 34mm polished steel case, 17-Jewel hand-wound movement with Incabloc protection and a tan calfskin strap. Reliability on ROO Diver
How reliable are the ROO divers? I mean any issues I should be concern about? Can the watch/movement take some abuse? I saw this video on youtube which got me thinking: https://.youtube/watch?v=oN4TY7opDyo
Rolex Submariner Bracelet
I have just put my Submariner (2004) in for a service and Rolex are telling me that bracelet is scratched and very worn, and needs replacing at a cost of 1000. I asked if they would just give it a polish and they said no. So, I am guessing my options are:1. Leave it as is.2. Pay for a new bracelet.3. Send it it Michael YoungWhat's the typical cost and duration for bracelet repair with MY? Will Rolex pickup on the repair and will that have any implications...?Thanks, Mark
