Watches NEWS
Interview: Georges Kern Of Roger Dubuis
Just like 2011 was a strong year for Zenith, this past 12 months marked a return of sorts for Roger Dubuis. The manufacture refocused its efforts on producing handsome, highly finished watches such as La Monegasque Collection, which we showed you here. Also, 2011 marked the return of the brand's founding father, Roger Dubuis himself, to the brand that bears his name. 1 OF 1 But what does Georges Kern, the man behind the rebirth of Dubuis have to say about all this? Well, Blake sat down with him in Monaco to chat about why he think Dubuis is a special brand, and just much more money goes into the finish of an RD movement than into a standard mechanical watch. Also, Kern says Roger Dubuis is the only manufacture in the world that is completely in-house from top to bottom, and marked with the Geneva seal. Because of this, the standard Dubuis movement costs around $5000, while many competitors' movements, he says, cost a fraction of this. Since the filming

Another Patek sports watch?
Hi all,I could use some help from some fellow Patek lovers...I've got two Nautilus models that I love. The classic 5711 blue and the 5726 White dial. One thin, one a bit thicker, one more elegant, and one a bit more sporty. A few months back I placed a deposit on a 5167 Aquanaut. The Aquanaut is suppose to arrive in a about a month. In the meanwhile, I received two intriguing offers from two AD's that I am close with. A 5980 Blue dial and a 5990. This has thrown a wrench in my plans as I've always been somewhat smitten by the 5980 but felt two blue nautilus watches would be a bit too much.My original plan was to have two nautilus models - one white, one blue. And to supplement those with the 5167 - the ultimate versatile Patek. But now the 5980 and 5990 have entered the picture and I'm not so sure about the aquanaut anymore. I've only tried on the 5167 once, a few months back, and that was on a bracelet (which I didn't love), so essentially I'm buying it on the strap unseen.

Advice - Dented gmt II case
Just got my watch back from a well respected repair shop and there is a dent in the case that I have never noticed before. I'm pretty observant and know just about every scratch on my watch and truly believe that I would have noticed something like this before. Especially a dent in the case like this, I can only imagine would take a pretty hard hit to yield this kind of result. I wanted to share this with the group to see if anyone went through a similar experience or if anyone has some general advice for me and how to go about approaching the jeweller and what the best course of action would be. Thanks in advance! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
