Cartier Calibre Astrotourbillon Watch
Over the last few years my interest and respect for Cartier has really grown. Sure, a lot of their timepieces are mass produced, but they have a penchant for good, lasting design. No doubt I am not a fan of all of their watches, but little escapes from their manufacture without being really good for at least some people. Good design - as I am learning more and more - is not easy. Designing something to look outstanding and really cool for 5 minutes is really not that hard. Executing a design that looks good each time you look at it, for years, isn't so easy. In this department, Cartier has succeeded for a long time. I find myself wondering what their secret is.Interestingly enough, watches with "good" designs don't affect you right away. You might look at them a bit ambiguously at first. Then, after paying attention to them for a while, the quality of the design grows on you. I have never looked at a Cartier watch once and been like, "Winner!" It takes me a while to appreciate them. A Dream Visit to AP in Le Brassus, Switzerland - Part 1
This a long overdue report that I have promised back in June before my dream visit to AP in Switzerland! It was a 2-day visit in Le Brassus, but there was some time to spend in Geneva before and after the trip to Vallee de Joux. I also took the opportunity to tour other parts of Switzerland. Patek 5167 overpriced or just me?
So I'm contemplating getting an aquanaut. Beautiful, quality, versatile piece. My one hesitation is that it feels a bit over priced. I mean we're talking 3 hands, a date and a rubber strap. I get that it holds value and is supreme quality and all that, but how much of it is simply marketing and brand name? I can spend a couple more grand and get a beautiful white gold Daytona, which is precious metal, more complicated, and a beautiful, high quality piece as well. They al hold their value if you get it at the right price.Don't get me wrong, I love the 5167, but I feel like it should be priced $5k less. My wife used to be in fashion and I would always say, how does Versace charge $400 for a t-shirt, it's ridiculous! She would go into the arguement about the quality and craftsmenship and exclusivity and all that. Now I ask her and she agrees, you're paying a lot of extra purely for the brand, it's all just marketing.So 5167 or no? Is it worth it or just go for the wg Daytona!?Really curio

Is the year the serial number/code on the bracelet to match the case serial year?
For example, I have an H serial 116200 and that refers to 2010 or newer and the bracelet is OP7 which refers to july 2006.Are those years supposed to match or is it fine that they don't match? Does that mean the bracelet was replaced/changed? I could not find any answers to this question.Thanks in advanced!
