Halios Delfin PVD Review
Halios watches probably needs little introduction on worn&wound. Over the last few years, the Vancouver based dive watch brand has earned a reputation for making great, unique watches. We previously reviewed two versions of their Tropik watches, one in bronze and the other in steel, both of which earned high regards from us. Stylish, restrained, well built, well priced they were hard not to like.Last October, Jason, the founder of Halios, brought his wares down from Canada to show at our Wind-Up: NYC event. He had on display samples of all of his watches, from the coveted 1000M Puck to his newest at the time and the topic of this review, the Delfin. It was love at first sight. I'm not sure how many times I went over to his booth and quietly picked it up to ogle and try on, but hopefully I didn't annoy him too much. Needless to day, I knew I had to review it.Fast forward a few months and here we are with the Delfin PVD, the follow up to the initial stainless model. Sporting a sophi
2531.80 Back From Modification
I received my 2531.80.00 back this morning from Steve at Ryte Time. It has gone through a few changes since I purchased it in April of last year.It looked like this when I first received it: (note the ding on the bezel at 55-56 mins)The first thing I did was purchase a Bond 1503.825 bracelet:I then had it serviced and later had a new bezel fitted.I really preferred the 2254.50.00 but did not have the funds to buy another watch, so I had Steve fit the following parts for me:Omega 064WZ3121001 Black Dial (SMP 2230.50.00)Omega 065PZ4136 Hour & Minute Hands (SMP 2230.50.00)Omega 066PZ4094 Seconds Hand (SMP 2230.50.00)ETA 2802 2557.1 Date Ring 3 o'clock White Figures on Black BackgroundOmega 082SU1464 Black Bezel (SMP 2254.60.00)And now my 2531.80.00 looks like this:I did ask Steve to supply and fit a PO 42mm seconds hand, but delivery of the hand was adding to the length of time my watch had been away, (24th of November) So I just went with the (SMP 2230.50.00) seconds hand. Now all I h
Patek Philippe Geneva Trip - 2013
I wanted to share one of the greatest experiences of my life, as one of fifteen collectors from around the United States to be invited by Patek Philippe for a week in Geneva to tour everything that is Patek Philippe. Patek flew us all Business Class to Geneva with hotel accommodations at the Mandarin Oriental, with a weeks worth of activities to follow. Here's a short and very brief synopsis..Day 1 - We arrived in the morning at the Patek Factory to experience Manufacturing/Hand Finishing and Grand Complications. We had lunch in Patek's private dining room with Thierry Stern and Larry Pettinelli. Following lunch we departed to the Patek Philippe Museum with a tour of the past and present watches. Day 2 - We departed to St-Imier to visit the dial factory. Following the factory we traveled to Montreaux to visit the Chateau de Chillion midieval Castle. Day 3 - We arrived in the morning to the factory to experience the International Service Center/Restoration Division as well as the Depart
Bracelet tool
A question for the wise.... will this item allow me to remove a combination of bracelets? I currently have Rolex, Tudor, Tag and Omega.https://.amazon.es/OFFICIAL-GENEV...fficial+GenevaOr do I need to buy this specific Rolex indicated tool?https://.amazon.es/herramientas-c...fficial+GenevaI see the pin sizes are different 1.1mm versus 1.08mm in the Rolex specific, is the tolerance that tight that I should order the Rolex specific? Or will the first item give me flexibility? Frustratingly I don't see to be able to find somewhere I can buy additional pins for the first tool. Thanks in advance for any help.
Bracelet questions
I have asked this before but did not get much response. Does anyone have an experience with someone in the US. That does DJ and DD bracelet repair (tightening) and polishing? Any input would be much appreciated.
