5711/1A retail/AD price
Grey market prices seem to be inflated for the 5711/1A - i am trying to figure out what the price would be buying directly from an AD? Do AD's mark up price due to high demand as well or should they be charing RRP per 2016 price list? I am based in Hong Kong for reference. 2016 RRP according to a euro/swiss franc price list i saw looked to be c. HKD 180,000 however i also saw a USD price list on the patek forum which suggested USD 26,700 list (HKD 207,000). Could this be due to the recent USD appreciation against EUR? Would Hong Kong follow USD pricing due to the currency peg? Thanks!
Comparing Sub, GMT, SD4K Lugs
Just posted this in another thread but maybe it warrants a new one? Thought I'd see if I could cobble together a reasonably accurate picture comparing the lugs of the SubC, GMT-II Pepsi, and SD4K. It's not perfect but I used several reference points as guides. I do see the difference between the Sub and the GMT, subtle though it is – I think this obsessional, comparative view makes the new, slight taper (more) evident. Seems reasonable to think a Sub update would inherit the new GMT case. Who knows? What's really clear is why the SD4K suits my small wrist so much better than the others. Very apparent difference.Anyway, as a relative newbie, wanted to try to give back to the forum!
Lousy Business--I Just dont Get Flipping
Looking at the classifieds I see Batmans with stickers bought three months ago going for as little as $ 300 over MSRP and not moving. What is the big deal about flipping watches ? To me it does not make any sense at all to tie up $ 9K in an unworn watch, and then have trouble selling it at cost three months later. Think of all the hastle and risk involved, for a lousy profit. What is more is that it seems like there is a fake demand for these watches with so many buying to flip. Sooner or later these buyers will be discouraged and the miracle business attraction debunked. My guess is Rolex knows about this and have therefore restricted supply. The only ones that move watches are the known reputable gray sellers but they will buy you out of your watch for a 2K loss. There is risk and hastle involved there too.
126600(SD43) vs 116610LV(Hulk) - which one to get?
Hi guys,I'm on my way to assemble air, land, and sea combo. Here's what I have now:1) Datejust 412) 116610LV(Hulk)On my way to collect:Explorer II - air (for the gmt functionality)Daytona - landFor the sea choice, I am contemplating whether to flip my hulk for 126600(SD 43) or stay the way it is and work towards my goal? It's a really hard choice because both have its strengths/shortcomings. What do you think, guys?
