AP/Rolex shopping in Grand Cayman/Turks & Caicos
Hey guys, i'll be going to the Caribbean in January for my honeymoon. While we have yet to decide which particular island(s) is going to host us, we are leaning towards the Cayman Islands and Turks & Caicos. I've read on a few other threads here that there are some deals to be had in these locations, in particular, at Kirk Freeport for Rolex and at Magnum Jewellers for AP in the Grand Cayman.Does anyone have any recent updates on these dealers and the sort of the discounts that can be had, and any information about the dealers/deals to be had in Turks & Caicos? Would I be better off buying from a local AD with whom I have a good relationship?I understand that duty is to be paid when bringing it back through customs. Any other information will be much appreciated. Thanks!
My new Who Dey Omega
Since I'm turning 40 in February I decided to treat myself with a second watch that I could rotate with my Explorer, something more casualI. I started looking for another Rolex, but none of them really scratched my itch, so I started looking at other brands / styles which lead me to Omega. So I looked up Authorized Dealer location on their website so I could go try some on since I was so unfamiliar with the line. The local AD was very professional & accommodating even though I had never stepped foot in their door before. They let me try on many different models that I liked, but this 43.5 Planet Ocean spoke to me, I loved it at first sight! I can completely understand how this color scheme might turn some away, however I love it! Needless to say by my user name I'm a Cincinnati Bengals fan (I know, it's a curse) so the color scheme was perfect for what I was looking for. I have read a lot of opinions on how the watch was a little too large, but I have a 6 3/4 wrist and I really
Finally got my blue Seamaster 300 M GMT!
I looked high and low at GMT's...really a tough decision. I finally settled on either a Sinn, Rolex GMTII or the blue 300M GMT. After seeing the 300M in person I quickly ruled out the others. The fact that I have a Sea-Dweller and wanted something a little less pricey and different looking made me go with the Omega over the GMTII. Here's a few pix...enjoy everyone! It's stunning in person!
What was / is your 5711 (blue) wait time?
Guys,I'm wondering how long it took you to get your 5711 once it was ordered. I've been waiting for 6 mos and none of my usual ADs have even received one. Thanks as always!
Patek Nautilus Rose Gold Try Outs - My thoughts
I own a 5205R and has been itching to get a 2nd PP. Nautilus comes highly recommended. One classic and one Nautilus sporty watch. Makes a great pair. For a while, I had my mind set on the 5980R especially after an encounter at the Geneva Patek Salon. But there is a big stumbling block, ie my bank account. I balk at the price... it just feels too much. So why not get a 5712R? It slimmer, has a to me more attractive micro-rotor movement and is also a RG Nautilus and much more affordable. Besides, pics from our fellow poster Jorge makes the watch so enticing. So I set out to hunt for the 5712R. It's quite rare in my part of the world. Any available stocks are usually quickly snatched up although ADs can get allocation without prolong waiting. Finally, I heard from my local AD that they just got one piece in and it is not reserved and is available for purchase. So I made my way down to my local AD. My fellow WIS friend and a devoted Patek collector volunteer to accompany me ( or try to poi
