Girard-Perregaux Three Bridge Neo Tourbillon Automatic Watch For 2014
The iconic Three Bridge Tourbillon collection from Girard-Perregaux has been one of the more understated, yet interesting high-end timepieces available for quite sometime. Originally based on the design of a Girard-Perregaux pocket watch from the late 19th century, the aesthetic of three distinct parallel bridges and a tourbillon has been a key part of the brand for as long as I can recall. A new version with an automatic and an updated design has been released for 2014 at the Baselworld watch show.Known as the "Neo Tourbillon With Three Bridges," the timepiece is most noteworthy for playing with the design of the bridges themselves. Retained are the arrow point ends, but now they are now skeletonized. Further, the 2014 Girard-Perregaux Three Bridge Neo Tourbillon Automatic model will have titanium bridges in a deep gray color with a very interesting look. Pretty much everything about the watch is actually new, especially the hour and minute hands as well as the touribllon cage. Furthe
Hands-On: The New Patek Philippe Nautilus In Rose Gold Reference 5711R (Live Pics, Pricing, Availability)
Patek Philippe's showing at Baselworld 2015 was, in my belief, its strongest in years. We saw them show absolutely stunning updates to the 5170G (black dial, oversized breguet, leaf hands make a world of difference) and 5270 (now available in rose, and no more chin on existing g models). We also saw perhaps the best watch Patek has made since the 5970P in the 5370P – a platinum split seconds chronograph with a black enamel dial. OK, they also brought out the least Patek watch they've ever made in the 5524G but we've already covered that craziness here. One piece from Basel that we haven't talked about yet and is just now hitting authorized dealers is the new Nautilus 5711 in rose gold. 1 OF 6 The 5711 in solid rose gold is a watch that I bet many of you probably thought already existed – and it did, just without a gold bracelet. And if you know anything about Genta designs, these watches are simply incomplete if not on a bracelet. So, a 5711 in
Omega SMP Professional Chronometer losing time!
My SMP professional that I purchased in 2000 is currently losing about 28 seconds a day, or 3.25 MINUTES a week. Way outside Chronometer standards. Should I have it sent in for service? It's never been opened (red seal still intact). If so, send it to Switzerland? If so, what is the process and anticipated cost(s)? Thanks in advance!
Patek Exhibition @ Local AD
My local AD held a Patek Philippe exhibition last week with some of the Directors from Patek UK attending as well as over a hundred watches!! There was everything from the Aquanauts and Calatravas to baguette bezels and right up to 250k tourbillons. Every 2012 release was also there. The only watches that didn't make an appearance were the minute repeaters and the Sky Moons.Never would I've expected to see so many all at once! Got to try on ALOT of them on too lol. My favourates were the 5270 perpetual, the 5960 chronos, 5130/1 World Time and 5980 chrono. The 5726 was really nice too but the 5711 was just over shadowed by the gorgeous 5980. I'm sure the 5711 would've looked quite nice on another day but sitting next to the chrono, it just didn't do much for me. I wasn't too fond of the 5164 Aquanaut Travel Time either. Has a rather busy dial and a fairly thicker case compared with the 5167. If I wanted the ultimate Aquanaut, I'd go for the 5167r.I've never really liked the chrono 5980'
No More Deliveries Professional Series
Hi, long time lurker, first post. Just bought my first Rolex today, an Explorer 1. Very happy!! My AD has known my family for generations so it was nice to keep the tradition going. I love my new watch - it is simplicity and elegance. The only thing it does is tell me the time. Oh, and look good doing it, of course!! LOL!!!The bad news was that they said flat out that they had been informed by the regional rep that there would be no more deliveries of any professional series watches for the remainder of the year and likely into spring. The reason apparently is a reaction to unworn watches showing up on the gray market. Anyway, that's the word from one AD. FWIW.
