Breitling Colt Watches For 2014 Fully Embrace High-End Quartz
For 2014, Breitling quietly releases a tweaked collection of Colt watches in four versions that include a women's model, a chronograph, and two three-handers. If you don't know, the Colt has been one of Breitling's most entry-level models representing an accessible way of getting into the brand's military-inspired sport watch theme. These new Breitling Colt watches have more Breitling DNA than ever, and there are some things to consider when looking at the new collection. I especially want to discuss the important topic of high-end quartz watches. This is especially after the also recent announcement of Breitling's even higher-end Cockpit B50 quartz-based watches watches-dealer covered here.Often times watch lovers accuse Breitling watches are looking too similar to one another. True enough, it often requires a particular expertise to distinguish one Breitling watch from another - but of course that doesn't apply to all models. If anything, Breitling has banked on that fact with the Co
From DNR to Dominant World Power: A History of the Swatch Group
Vintage watches are a hot topic these days. All you need to do is spend some time on Instagram, in the Facebook watch groups, or any number of high profile blogs (including worn&wound) to see incredible examples of horological art and function from decades ago. Part of the reason these watches are a hot topic is the fascinating history behind them. Not just the provenance or mystery/history behind individual watches, but the history of the brands too.To that end, this is the first of a (hoped for) series of articles on those histories. We'll hope to entertain you a bit, and add to your knowledge of things horological as seen through and told by the roles these brands played.Certainly, at this point in history, there is no bigger player than the Swatch Group. These days, because of the brands they own and the efforts of ETA (which the Group also owns) to limit distribution of bauches (unassembled, unfinished movements), they're the 800 pound gorilla in the industry, and all eyes ar
The Dark Fiddy !
More than 5 years after announcing the 1950 composite Luminor Pam375 and after a lot of gossip on how why and if it was really launched They are starting to trickle down the pipeline Haven't seen it in person yet but it is available for me if I want it ... Who wouldn't want a dark Fiddy ?? For the price of 14k that would probably be me :-) I'll pay the boutique a visit and get some wrist shots and see it in person then get back to you guys maybe sell my 587 and get the 375 ?? Hmm
A few serious questions!
Hi guys,Since the BLNR is now discontinued I'm thinking about buying a DaytonaC. I showed up with $12,400 in cash and demanded my AD sell me one. I was really ticked off to hear that he didn't have one for me. To make things worse he went as far as to say there is a list! I thought he would want a new customer! So now I'm thinking about maybe the Hulk. But I'm just not sure, Is it a good investment? Will it be worth more than the PepsiC in 7.4 years? Speaking of the PepsiC what's with that color? I thought Rolex was going to make the exact same watch as the 16710 just with a ceramic bezel?? And a jubilee? That's for old geezers. My AD said I could be 15th on the list for the Pepsi if I want though. How long will that take for me to get it? Will there be a price increase between now and then? What if I pre-pay? Speaking of paying, how much of a discount should I expect? Man, all the flippers have really made it hard to buy anything. And don't even get me started on gray dealers! How dar
