Introducing: Roger Dubuis Announces The Hommage Millsime Pocket Watches, A Series Of One Of A Kind Timepieces
Roger Dubuis has just shared with us the beginning of a most interesting project and one that will undoubtedly attract a good deal of attention, as well as, perhaps, a bit of controversy. This is the Hommage Millésime project. The name means, approximately, Vintage Homage, and the idea is to take very high grade and complicated movement ébauches – generally from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when classical watch construction and finishing techniques really reached their pinnacle before beginning to be supplanted by machine and automated manufacturing and finishing tools – and to use them as the basis for making watches that reflect both the heritage of Roger Dubuis and the personal history of Mr. Roger Dubuis. 1 OF 4 Roger Dubuis himself is a watchmaker who began his professional life working in the restoration of rare and often very complicated vintage clocks and watches, and restoration remains a key aspect of his overall views on the
Walked in with a GMT II 16710 and walked out with a Datora.
Well last week I got my GMT II back from the RSC. Something kept bugging me though, the bezel inset was off by half a click. So today I ran it up to the AD. While waiting for the watchmaker to decide if it needed to go back to the rsc I started looking around. At the breitling counter I saw the Datora for the first time in real life. Needless to say I have been a frequent flyer in the AD and bought a pile of rollies in the last few months and when the owner came up he said there is a story to that watch followed by something I hate to hear I will take care of you on it. Long story short they sent the GMT II back to Rolex, I put my speedy (which I had in case they were sending my GMT to the rsc) back in my pocket and said done. I have been on the fence about the Daytona and it actually does not do it for me, but I love chronographs and this watch has everything. Month, Date, Day, 24hr hand and a chronograph to boot. Anyhow I have punched my Breitling ticket and couldn't be happier.
New incoming 5712/1A - Feb 2018!
Hi everyone just wanted to share a new incoming for me, the 5712/1A which I received on Feb 26th, just before the price increase in the UK (Thanks to my lovely AD who supplied me with other Pateks). I really am greatful because they could have easily held the watch for a few days to scerw me but they didnt. Shows how far relationships with ADs do matter in this world still. Also note that I added a 1.5 link as the fit was slightly too large but removing a link resulted in it being too tight. However the 1.5 link has made it a perfect fit. I did this in the Patek Japan service centre and i was charged 24,800 JPY which is around 200 $US including the fitting. They seem to have these in stock at all times so I just popped in and took around 10 minutes. I know theres been many posts about this watch so I'll post some photos to share for those who are on the fence or wondering if its worth it. Trust me its worth it!!And 1 Bonus Image:
5131G or J are hard to get right now?
What's the deal with this serie actually? Why is it hard to get? I have seen some prices on some websites that tripled the retail. Is this really the case?
Patek deep case scratch repair?
Does anybody know how patek repairs deep gold case scratches? I was told that they fill the deep scratches in with a laser gold technique and then buff it out.
