Watchmaker Takes Us Inside The Popular Rolex 3135 Watch Movement
As an watches-dealer guest, Hugh Taylor from Xupeswatches-dealer (a pre-owned watches and luxury goods dealer in the UK) interviews their in-house master watchmaker, Mickey Nolan, as he proceeds to service and dissemble this famous work-horse mechanical movement - the caliber 3135 by Rolex - which is found in a series of watches, including the Submariner. Mr. Nolan offers some interesting insights into the movement and a fantastic look at what many watch lovers can appreciate in theory, but don't always know as intimately as a watchmaker who deals with them on a regular basis.Last week, for the first time, I chewed the fat with seasoned watchmaker Michael (Mickey) Nolan as he whipped apart a Rolex Submariner 3135 movement. Blue dial 15400 or Diver?
Some views please!I have a silver dial 41mm ROC and thinking of another RO to compliment it. Two watches that keep coming to mind are the standard Diver and the 15400 with the blue dial. I like the idea of the blue dial as it seems a rare beast and, well, I like blue!I know what to expect with the 41mm case and know the Offshore fits my wrist too. So, is the 15400 too much of the same as I have the ROC? There's a lot of love on here for the Diver and I think I'm leaning towards it too. Any thoughts? Look forward to hearing from you guys.Martin
Aquanaut 5165
The 5165 is the 38mm rather than 40mm version of the Aquanaut with the same style integrated rubber strap. I think this was only produced for about 3 years. Given its relative rarity should one expect it to have higher values in the open market? I'm looking at a potential trade and have no idea what to expect.Any thoughts would be welcomed!
Help me understand the random serial number
Can random Rolex serial numbers start with a letter and then a series of numbers or must they always start with a number and then a combination of letters and numbers to follow?
