Smiths Everest (Timefactors PRS-25) Review
In order to talk about the Smiths Everest watch, one must introduce three brands, two people and one very significant historical event. The Everest, unlike most homage watches, is an homage in name and form, but to two different brandsas well as to their historical intersection at the highest peak on Earth. You see, in 1953 when Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay made their historical climb to the summit of Everest, they had with them two watches: a Smiths and more famously, a Rolex. At this point in time, Smiths is clearly the more obscure brand. One of the only English watch brands of the 20th century, Smiths designed and manufactured timepieces, including movements, in the UK from around 1945 to some point in the 70's. Since the brand dissolved it is no surprise that Rolex has been able to capitalize on this event, making the fact that a Smith's was on the journey somewhat obscure to the general public. These days, the Smiths name has seen a bit of a resurrection, as it is
Where to find Speedmaster bracelet link?
As the title says, I need an extra link for my Speedmaster. I have the spares somewhere but I can't find them. I am new here and I was wondering if someone could suggest a source? Thanks in advance.
Wedding watch..... POLL What should I wear...
Okay, so I'm getting married this month (I've referred to my other half as my wife for a couple years now because we've been engaged forever and were supposed to be wed a LONG time ago but a family death and other things meant we pushed the wedding to now.....) I am wearing a dark green suit, white shirt, brown tie, brown shoes. On my right hand I am wearing a pinky signet ring in platinum. Right wrist will have some white metal braceletes (steel, wg, pt, ect). My lapel will have a small silver pin, tie bar is platinum and enamel. Left hand will have my wedding band (platinum plain band that's brushed....very basic).Should I wear a 5164 (my all time favorite watch...actually will have to buy one this weekend...long story, I sold mine but have remorse in letting it go). Or should I buy a friend's 5726 (white dial on bracelet). In talking to my other half we think this.....The nautilus bracelet is far more formal and may look better for the wedding and match with all the other bling I'm w
Bahamas trip and John Bull visit
We went on a short 3 day cruise in addition to a day at the magic kingdom so I had a chance to visit the John Bull main store. Of course, no sports models, etc. Lots of DJs and DDs and several Daytonas on rubber strap. I inquired about subs, gmts, etc and the nice lady said they have them all on order, but are completely out company wide. No big surprise there.I did, however, try on the platona for the first time. Ooooh, that watch is nice!Enclosed is a photo of the zen place I reached over the weekend in the Bahamas.
Is the year the serial number/code on the bracelet to match the case serial year?
For example, I have an H serial 116200 and that refers to 2010 or newer and the bracelet is OP7 which refers to july 2006.Are those years supposed to match or is it fine that they don't match? Does that mean the bracelet was replaced/changed? I could not find any answers to this question. Thanks in advanced!
