Timex Expedition Military Field Review
If one could set a dollar amount to looks and style alone, the Timex Expedition Military Field T498759J would be worth a heck of a lot of money. Not because it uses faux materials to appear as though it were a luxury watch, nor gadgets and gizmos to feign tech. It doesn't even really reinvent or depart from the typical field watch symbol and layout vocabulary. What is does it much more simple and elegantit just gets everything right with subtle twists. The case is classic, the dial is basic yet finessed enough to be interesting, the hands are standard shapes made unique and the strap pulls everything together to make a great watch out of the boxand, more to the point of the post, it costs a mere $45 dollars. If you have the watch bug, and I know you do if you are reading this, you'll likely grab one just cause; I know I did.At the core of the Timex Military Field's (we need to invent a good nickname for this watch) look is a monochromatic matte steel case and matching dial. Vintage Omega dealers?
Hey everyone,I'm a newbie when it comes to vintage Omega, and in fact my only experience with the brand is owning a SM PO that I purchased in 2005 (my first dive watch).I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a reliable and honest vintage Omega dealer? I'm familiar and have dealt with a lot of the Rolex vintage guys, but I figured I would ask here first. Thanks in advance
Its the new Datejust that is compelling to me.
As per my title, I find the new case design on the datejust quite compelling. The classic oyster design being modified is quite a significant move. I will reserve judgement until I see it, but I love the classic oyster case with its flowing lines. This looks more slab sided. But what does this say about where Rolex could be going? If they are beefing up the datejust, arguably their biggest seller, does this confirm the larger lugs are here to stay? The new GMT doesn't appear slimmed down? Looks like super case through and through? Looking forward to seeing and learning more about the new DJ 36mm. What do you all think?
New Member and first watch: 16013, 16014, or ?
Hi TRF Members,My very first post and wanted to say hello and thank you for the vast amount of great information here. I'm finally at the point in my horological life where I'm ready to add a Rolex to my collection. I'm barely beginning to scratch the surface though on models, movements, history, etc. So many that I would love to own! However, for my first purchase, I'm leaning towards a vintage(ish) model for a couple of reasons. Cost being one (although I realize certain vintages can command some serious money), and just partial to vintage (or vintage looking) watches in general. From the info I've gathered in the past few weeks, I think I've narrowed down my search to two models. The 16013 or 16014. How I came up with them was as follows:Must have acrylic crystal (just love the vintage vibe it gives)Be 36mm caseMust hackHave Fluted BezelHave Jubilee bracelet Prefer black or blue dial Still on the fence between two-tone and not two-tone though, hence the two models. Please Let me know
