Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends November 21, 2014
Tag Heuer is a curious?brand in that its pieces are diverse in its price range. It makes relatively affordable quartz pieces and at the same time also has some truly outstanding and costly watches such as the Monaco V4 Tourbillion and the MikroPendulumS. And earlier this year at Baselworld, it announced a brand new chronograph movement called the CH80 and a new watch that will feature this new movement called the Carrera CH80. The watch was positively received and many were looking forward to its launch. However, production was delayed time and again and the latest news seems to indicate that Tag Heuer will cease production altogether. This all sounds very drastic, and in this round-up, we feature an article that takes a considered look at why this has happened. If we were to take a look at the individuals who have contributed most to horology, many of them would be British. Here are some examples: John Arnold, John Harrison, George Graham, Thomas Mudge, and more recently, George Daniel
Watch winder?
Let's be honest, if I could wear my AP all day everyday I truly would. However, I am unable to wear it at work. On days I am not wearing it, should I keep the watch in a watch winder? Is that safe? I have the AP diver. Any info would be helpfuly, thanks.
Navitimer 01 or Transocean chronograph?
I am looking at getting my hands on a new watch in the next few months.Already have a Rolex Sea Dweller ( 2008, last of the non fatboys!). The watch is not a fashion purchase but in effect a memorial / personal reminder. Our father passed away recently and so my Sister and I intend to buy a watch each, She is after a Ladies Rolex, myself, and now the crux of the Post a Brietling ( maybe!!). Torn between the Navitimer and the Superocean Chrono . I know very little about Breitling, but I am after a Pilots watch. The Rolex covers my current career the Pilots watch an earlier life milestone. I know this will be a personal choice but any wise words regards depreciation , reliability etc . I love the leather strap but believe they fail more frequently than one would like and are silly money to replace !I do like the Rolex GMT bimetallic but is that just too similar to the SD ( I know , it's different but the Rolex gene is strong)Your thoughts?Any ideas as to what discounts UK AD's are doing?
Seamster De Ville legit?
.ebay.ca/itm/271095087822?...=p5197.c0.m619I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive vintage seamaster de ville. Are there any of you that could potentially identify whether this watch is legit and maybe narrow down when it was manufactured? It states that the dial was professionally redone whatever that means. Perhaps a good estimate on how much you would be willing to pay for this?I believe 2 movements were produced for this watch caliber 562 and 563. This one is 563 so would that help in identifying the watch? Thanks
Where will the sub top out at?
I was going back over old threads, and noticed a price list from 2005 had the 16610 Sub date at just over $4000 so it more than double in the 10 years following, what do you see as the top end for a regular black sub date, you think it will ever double again to $16k plus??? I would say no way but then again 10-12 years ago I would never have seen it approaching $10k either!! BTW going back to the very early threads is so much fun, so much has changed and so little has changed haha
