AP Clearwater Service - Thumbs Up!
I just wanted to share my recent experience with AP Clearwater and their service. I've sent watches in to RSC Dallas and PASC Ft. Worth so I do have some experience with OEM service. I must say AP had the most professional and attentive customer service that I've ever experienced. They answered all of my numerous emails and calls, and were always courteous and professional. I've posted a bit about this before because I had a slightly unusual situation, but now that my watch is back home, I couldn't be happier!I bought my E-series ROC 25860 from a watch shop owner in Chicago. It was his personal watch dating back to about 1998 or so. It had a green octagonal box but no papers. I wasn't even sure the box belonged with the watch, but an email to AP confirmed that it actually did ecause this was before the wooden boxes! The major pre-purchase issue was that the chronograph didn't advance past 1 minute so it was sent to a non-AP watchmaker who repaired it before I bought it. Is the blue 5711 dial much darker than the 5712?
For those who have them I wanted to know if the color is different or the same between these models? On their website the color of the 5711 is much darker than the 5712, personally love both even if I already chose which one I am getting, going monday to see them and order it, according to them around 2 months wait, but that's reasonable next to some Rolex models where you need to wait 4-6 months. When I went to the boutique I hoped to see both with blue dials, but the 5711 was with white dial, can't say I liked it much, and the 5712 was the WG version with silver dial, very beautiful indeed, but I am getting one with steel bracelet. Is the difference seen on these pics due to different light condition or are the dials different? Here's the 2 pics from the PP site where you see a very big color difference. Thanks for your replies 5711_1A_010.png5712_1A_001-3.png
Would you trade a SubC, Red 1680, + cash for a PP 5167 or 5711?
I posted the same poll in the main Rolex forum. I'm curious if the responses here will differ.
Panerai Service Alternatives
I've recently joined the Panerai family and have what I think is an awesome 121. It is about 11 years old and looks pretty damn good. The two problems I have with it are that it loses about a minute a day and the top chronograph button is very hard to push. Now I know people are much more likely to complain about a problem than praise good or excellent service, but I am a little leery of sending my watch to Ft Worth (unlike my recent good experiences with RSC Dallas). So I can't find much about satisfaction with alternatives like Govbergs in Philly. They seem to handle practically all makes and models. And with this being an El Primero movement, the fact that they also are Zenith ADs is comforting. Any advice would be appreciated.
