Diving In Grand Cayman With Oris Watches Video Part 1
We consider ourselves a pretty lucky bunch over at ABTW - we get hands-on time with the watches we enjoy, and we get to share our passion with the community. Great fun! However, once in a while we get really lucky, and a brand like Oris sends us to the Cayman Islands to earn our diving certification as part of the December 2014 watches-dealer giveaway. Since that is exactly what happened, we decided to film and share our experience in this three-part series, shot in Grand Cayman with our holiday 2014 "Learn to Dive with Oris Watches" giveaway winner, Zach.In this first video, we strap on the required gear, learn about PADI, and discover how dive watches fit into this whole equation (meaning we play with them).A special thanks to Oris, DiveTech, and our certified instructor Ragime C and of course, be sure to catch the next installment of this series soon. oris.ch
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon 2014 Watch
For 2014, the Royal Oak Concept watch by Audemars Piguet makes a return. Originally released in 2002, the Royal Oak Concept was penned as an ultra-modern version of the Royal Oak on the 30th Anniversary of the famed Gerald Genta-designed luxury sport watch. watches-dealer covered the last version of the?Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon in 2011 here. The 2014 version is more "summery" than any of the previous models, featuring a titanium case and light white ceramic (for the bezel, crown, pusher, and hourglass-shaped structure on the movement). Inside the watch is the revised original movement with the new Audemars Piguet caliber 2930. The case is 44mm wide but wears quite large due to the large lug structures. In addition to the modern design, the Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon has some interesting features. There is, of course the tourbillon to the left, and to the right is a GMT disc offering a second time zone. The movement has a long power reserve of 10 days between two barrels. A
Affordable Vintage: 1974 Gruen Precision
Since yesterday was the 4th, we figured today would be a good day to briefly talk about an American brand that once was. A brand that, though one of the original American wristwatch companies, is not often talked about: Gruen. Unlike Hamilton, Bulova, Elgin, Waltham, etc they simply are not as popular or sought after. Gruen produced tons of watches in the 70+ years they were around, some of which are well known and renowned, such as the Curvex and Techni-Quadron models, but generally speaking they are not very collectable and information on specific models is sparse. A quick browse on Ebay and you will find that they rarely break $300, though on more curated vintage sites, such as watchestobuy, you will find some approaching $2,000.1940’s Gruen Curvex Bat Wing – image by watchestobuyThe history of the brand is very interesting and for a detailed look I recommend reading this thoroughly researched on-line book by Paul Schlisser. Mr. Schlisser breaks down the story of Gruen
AP Lume Shot!
Hi guys... I was just having fun with the AP watches... enjoying the Lume the give out!
Should I wait for 375 soon or 335 now?
If I get 335 now I don't think I will get 375 later (even I want but budget limit is full)Anyone know will 375 come before the end of this year? This is reason why I can get only one more. Will trade it out soon.
